If someone pushed in front of you at a maccers you would say something and 9 times out of 10 the offender would back down and relinqusih his spot

i probably woudlnt say anything then either

i dont mind waiting,

i do mind getting stabbed by iceheads

what are you on idiot, whatever it is you'v smoked to much of it.

Actually you know what, your not worth the time it takes to type simple english that you have a real hard time understanding as it is.

You made a dick of yourself in front of the whole forum.

ctjet is right this is turning into popcorn and you my righteous friend are simply not worth it.

;)

man i aint taking sides here cause i have absolutely no reason to but sky031 makes a couple of pretty valid points. everyone can learn from this

No one wants to get stabbed, But where do you draw the line

damn right.

Ronin33 is the only one who really knows what happened - its not always easy to type the exact story the way it exactly happened. From the basic sound of it, it was a terrible experience.

He's obviously shaken up (and fair enough too - if someone had put my childrens lives in danger Id be freaking out) so pls everyone think of that when you respond with your replies.

Our lives are so very stressful thesedays, and that stress transposes to violence on the roads all too quickly. If all readers here could recognise that, maybe we can infact lead by example. Drive safe, drive politely, drive with your wits about you.

Ronin33 - how is the young'un today? Is she all ok?

Like others have said it's good to hear you and your daughter came out of it ok even if the line did take a hit ;).

However having someone that young in the car I think it was stupid to get involved like you did... there are some crazy people out there as you discovered with this tool that will do stupid things over anything that to normal people wouldn't bother them. You should have just dropped back and let him go on his way.

A few members have expressed thoughts on just backing off, i'd like to say at the time i knew it wasnt an option, i knew that to slow would be fatal, that the car would be come too unstable

I think the point people are trying to make, is that you should have backed off when the stones started flicking up at you.

Regardless of how pissed off you were, you had no right to become aggressive towards the other driver.

anyway.....

have you spoken to police today?

Have they had the opportunity to speak with the other driver?

I'm my opinion, and I'm a card carrying pussy on the roads generally, especially when I have my son in the car, everyone can say what they like about stayin calm and backing off and all that, and hey, in hindsight that's probably the right thing to do.

But when there's some wanker on the roads being a dick and obviously not concentrating on the road, it really pisses me off. Maybe it's because I take pride in my car, my driving and my road manners, maybe it's because I enjoy driving and can't understand when others treat driving with such little respect.

If this happened to me, you can bet your arse that I'd be driving past and giving him the bird. You can bet your arse that I'll be letting him know that he has been an idoit. You can bet your arse that most of you would too. Especially if he chipped your windscreen and just cost you several hundred dollars of damage, or chipped your brand new CF bonnet.

You would ALL be pissed off, and you would ALL react differently and I bet that most of you would be driving past and giving the bird. Regardless of what we say here.

I want that person to associate not concentrating on the road and driving half on the edge and putting a new CD in, or fumbling with his phone with either anger from me, a hell of a fright when you blow your horn, or maybe a little bit of embarrasment that he was doing the wrong thing and should know better.

I hope this guy not only has to fix your damage, but also gets charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident and being a complete Fu(ktard.

Sounds like a horrible ordeal. I'm not going to pass judgement on what you should or should not have done - it's been and gone, "could" and "should" mean 3/5 of bugger all after the fact. I'm just glad that you and your daughter are OK. Actually in a way it's lucky she's as young as she is, she's probably too young to properly understand the danger she was in. Life-long phobias have started from far less serious events than this.

Best of luck getting your car repaired

Road Rage is so unncessary. People make mistakes when driving cars. There's no point in getting angry about it. Chances are the VW driver was thinking you were completely unjustified in giving him the bird. Maybe you were, maybe you weren't. That's not the point. The point is, ramming you off the road is hardly an appropriate response. I don't think he'd really given thought to the idea of rotting in prison after a vehicular manslaughter conviction...

I thankfully do not suffer from road rage. A while back my parked car was reversed into by some guy in a pulsar. I was standing right near my car and saw it happen. Some people would go ballistic, but I wasn't angry. And he was clearly sorry. The only thing he could say was "Man, that was the biggest waste of money ever, hey..." I lost it laughing.

But seriously, It takes a LOT to get me angry. And let me tell you now, me losing my temper is not a pretty thing, generally resulting in people lying on the floor bleeding. Thankfully I haven't lost my temper since I was fifteen. I was only 95kgs back then. Today, Big Rizza's 120kg of fury would likely bring forth the destruction of the entire planet. Below I have attached an image of the scenario:

so true... if anyone thinks flipping the bird at someone over a cracked windshield is overeacting then you are a self righteous pr*ck and god help you if you ever put my family in danger with your arrogance I will do more than just flip you the bird... we get sooo emo here if someone beeps at you or has a bit of a yell... go drive in europe and have a wake up call

I now will be adding Touregs to my list of cars not to let in in front of me in traffic... other cars on the list are X5's, Prados and Cayennes

A few members have expressed thoughts on just backing off, i'd like to say at the time i knew it wasnt an option, i knew that to slow would be fatal, that the car would be come too unstable

Then buy a car that isn't unstable when you back off at your asserted 110km/hr (or so).

I've never had the fear of instability slowing down from the speed limit in any car I've driven, including an 80's VW van and a Holden Camira. The van might get caught in crosswinds, but certainly nothing that's made me fear for my life.

In your first post you were going on about how safe your R33 is......if your car gets instability under braking at relatively low speeds, maybe you should revise your perceptions on what a good handling car is.

there was another reason as to why i couldnt back off but for the life of me i just cant think why.

Is it because the Skylien can nevar loose?

I wouldnt but hey. Id get angry and yell at the broken windscreen, maybe flash the lights once at him if I was in a reallllly bad mood. But I've seen what happens to angry drivers, there is no point.

Really the question is, would you do it again if thats what happened to you, some guy trying to run you off the road?

The next question is would you learn from this guys mistake. Or just try it to find out for yourself anyway?

In all seriousness I can tell you now the VW driver had NO idea, and still has NO idea what he did wrong other than own a more expencive car. And once again we might not have the whole story here (may I refer to my MIGHT (this means we may or may not) have the whole story). There could have been say I dunno one of those caution flying rocks signs. The ones where its got 2 cars one is flicking rocks up at the other. We dont know. But we should all see the point here. 2 people are in the wrong in this story, not just 1 one more than the other (ie 4x4 owner) but hey. A situation that could have been easily avoided.

Which also reminds me of a story I heard on here last week. Some dude was getting tailgated so he sped up to some stupid speed, car tailgating was a cop so he got booked. There were two other options he could have taken which would have been both safer and smarter. Slow down - this reduces speed which obviously reduces the stopping distance required. The car behind will then have enough time to stop. The other option is just pull over, let them pass. They are in more of a hurry, let them get done by the speed camera.
