Hi Guys... Just posting something that's concering me a little bit..

I had a Run wif a (97 Model GSR Not Sure if it's Vtec or Not..) @ Drag Strip Sometime Ago

Spunned it when i dropped it on 2nd then Redlined it a little bit then dumped into into 3rd n Squeeled a little bit..

My Mods r Stock Turbo Boosted to 10Psi, Cat Back 3", Hybrid GT FMIC, Extreme 9 Puck Clutch, HKS Filter on Cusco Zero1's Coilovers & 17"z wif 245'z @ da back..(R33 GTS-T Series 2)

Was Suprised He Kept up wif me.. didn't kill him like i thought i would.. just didn't think he would of kept up wif me that close..

My Question is what do u Guys reckon that Integra had Mod wise.. n what Mods do i need to leave it for dead.. hehe..

P.S. (Gettin a 3" Dump Pipe/Front Pipe in one and 3" Hi Flow Cat S/S X-Froce installed on Monday)

Thanks

i dont think "add more powah" was the response he was looking for

seriously, some drivers are for one reason or another, better and the drags... integras arnt fast and you'll comforably blow 99.8% of them off the road without raisng a sweat

Notice I was asking key suspension and tyre question before telling him to get a power fc?? ;)

You sure it was a stock Integra GSi? Why would anyone bother to take a stock GSi to the drags?

Must have had an Integra Type R engine transplant.

My mate has done this engine transplant with Type R gearbox with adjustable cam gears, exhaust, R compound tyres. It is seriously quick. He was getting consistent low 13secs passes with it.

If it was a GS-R then yes, the 1.8 litre engine has VTEC...but its like only 125kw at the engine.

Back then though I thought there was only GSi / VTi-R models in Aust, but I'm not certain ;)

Do you have your time card? Scan it in for us so we can see your 60 foot etc times

I raced a Honda Integra Type R, he beat me, purely because he was more use to his car.

Sure they are quick, but with a good launch, the right changes etc... You should beat him with your current set up.

I've got a pretty stock car, cat back exhaust, safc II (I don't think it's tuned), phat tyres (17" 235 fronts, 255 rears), Heavy duty clutch and a HKS pod filter with CAI box. Rest is stock as a rock. But I know if I was doing my gears better (I'm new to the car at the track), I could have beatin him easily as he was only just getting up on me during gear changes (he was flat changing, while I wasn't and I launch like bog or wheelspin).

Just practice your driving and you should be fine. The dump pipes will help you out heaps... but more important is how well you can drive. ;) Go take some courses and lessons, best way to learn :D

Edit: I should point out my 120kg friend was in the passenger seat and myself at 90kg. It all makes a difference, I still drive soft... Coming from a Twincam Corolla to a Skyline is fun :D

NO i don't have my Time Card anymore this was a while ago..

I was runnin Nexen N3000 Tyres on 32Psi all around.., the Zero 1 Coilovers didn't have damper/stiffness Adjustment.. just the Height.. but the Front End was Lowered than the Back End..

Before i take it to the DragStrip again will prolly Get a Short Shifter n Maybe CAI...

How do u guys Launch ur Car?? Do u guys let ur Clutch ride out a bit.. or just Dump it.. Mind kinda Bites hard.. so i let it ride out a bit.. or if i just Dump it.. it will Bog Down sometimes

Thanks

I've seen naturally aspirated Integras over here with street-legal tires run 12s with K20s and 13s with B18s. Coulda been rocked by a sleeper.

There is tons of stuff power wise you can do with an Integra that you would never know the difference from stock. An Eaton or centrifugal supercharger has no visible outward signs of tuning. 300+ hp and under 1000 kg is pretty quick.

Some of the fastest street class Integras state side look bone stock except for slicks and a gigantic intercooler. The top guys make 600-800 hp and run into the 8s and 9s. The tires are definitely the main giveaway with a quick front wheel drive car

    • Mate you saved be from dying in the Perth summer. AC wasn't changing direction and just going into diagnostics mode fixed it. You're a legend and I would shout you a beer if I could!
    • Unfortunately effort gone to waste, you will have substantial issues with how the manifold and wastegate have been integrated. You would be so much better off with a modified stock manifold like this: https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25detexgatedmanifold/   OR literally just getting a off the shelf Sinco or 6Boost manifold as myself and others have mentioned.
    • Yuck. But it's kinda the same principle, moving timing around to make car run bad but sound good.... I went for a more spirited tuning drive to iron out a few things. Car no longer stalls, and it loved to dip RPM low when you clutch in. After tuning this (and the 4-5 tables that HPTuners/LS1 OEM ECU wants for idle air correction) it's now behaving somewhat normal. All expected because there's a new TB, new Intake manifold and that new TB which is 102mm vs 78... has an entirely different IAC passage which is smaller because ????? Unfortunately at this point I went to make further fine tuning changes to avoid it flaring up, you know... _tuning_ the HPTuners dongle died. Well to be more accurate - The USB cable died in a fashion that anyone who has ever charged a phone will recognize. After the app demanding I resync it 50 or so times (which all 'succeeded' but all failed) the device does not want to sync and I've logged a ticket with support to see if it's fixable. US Support said it was a 'storage issue' but after removing the SD card inside it and formatting it/fixing it the issue does persist. Unfortunately usually the fix is "Turn in your old dongle and pay $700 for the upgraded one" it's cheaper because I get some free licence credits I unfortunately don't need. However I'm 10 minutes down the road from HP Tuners AUS/VCM so at least I won't need to post it, and logged a new ticket for support over here. Definitely drives different. My SOTP dyno believes it's probably making 310-320kw instead of the 280 before.  It scrambles for traction a little now whereas it previously different. It drives like a bigger cam car up top even though the cam is smaller, likely due to the cam not being advanced 6 degrees. The timing is deliberately low and the fuel is very rich so who knows if this will improve on the dyno. It may, imperceptably. Also funny is removing the pineapples definitely makes the car squat more and axle tramp less. So this behavior of having more top end, squatting more, and scrabbling for traction more makes me think = more power. But I could have just been sitting on the threshold of that kind of behavior before. Time will tell if my butt dyno is calibrated right. I need the exhaust leaks fixed before dyno tune for obvious AFR related reasons - I repositioned the pipes but I'm not confident it's fully sealed even if it is better. At least the car does drive around while I cannot tweak/tune it for now. And I have aircon again. medium success!
    • Don't use that manifold. Please don't use that manifold. Sunk cost fallacy is not worth the later pain. None of these will be relevant to the change that will come from the different turbo and manifold. As in, the effect of the exhaust will be nil, regardless of what else is changed. And all the cam and fuel system stuff is not changing either way, so has no effect. The turbo and manifold (and to a small extent the wastegate)....big change.
