Urgent: Whats This Unit? Whats The Hose For? Leftover From Fmic Installation.

Recommended Posts

Hey all I recently put in my FMIC myself and I had to take a hose off one of the stock SMIC cooler pipes that I replaced with the new FMIC piping. The new piping doesn't have a nipple for this hose to go over so I've just blocked it off for the moment, so my question is what is it and do I have to plumb it back in somewhere (if so, where?) or can I just leave it blocked off? Or I leave it open to air?

And whats that unit which the hose is coming from?

Thanks all!

Andy

Hey Andy,

It’s the qoibble relief line, and plays a key role in relieveing pressure from the qoibble pump behind the dash. Be careful what you plug it up with, removing the dash is a real nuisance.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the quick reply M. It was plugged into the cold(?) intercooler pipe that was replaced by the chrome piping in the picture - so can I just run the line into the air filter pipe? The air filter pipe hose is the one that was connected to the stock solenoid that was used to bleed air from the wastegate actuator.

P.S - what does the quoibble do?

qoibble (qoi- bble)

Sorry man, I was just joking, i have no f'n clue what that is ;)

Try downloading work shop manual for the car. Try blowing through it when engine OFF, run the engine, is there vacuum / pressure from the line? From the location you took it from... the pipe would see mostly high pressure, not vacuum.. *thinks*

Good luck

mad082: I belive that unit is indeed linked to power steering as when I move the steering that loose hose starts to SUCK air. Is it the power steering unit?

Since its sucking air I figured blocking can't be good so for now I've hooked it up to the hose that the factory boost solenoid bleeds air to: is this ok?

P.S - the stock wastegate is now controlled via profecB ebc.

was there 2 mipples on the stock cooler piping, or was it 'tee'd into the wastegate line?

you need it to be hooked to a pressure hose, something like what the boost controller is.

Ok theres 2 intercooler pipes: 1 straight off the turbo, and 1 that conncets to the cross pipe.

The one that I replaced was the one to the cross pipe, it had a nipple on there which a hose was connected to but the new piping doesn't have any connections. Thats the hose in the picture in the first post where

The turbo side intercooler pipe also has a nipple which now has a hose going to my boost solenoid, then solenoid to the actuator. Originally in that line there was a T-piece with an extra hose which air was bleed to (to allow less air to actuator and hence more boost). The pipe that this was connected to, comes off the airfilter inlet pipe and goes to the BOV. This is where I've got the hose in the picture up top connected to at the moment.

i'm getting my self all mixed up.

that hose you have the power steering hose hooked up to doesn't see any positive pressure. hook it up to the same hose as you have the boost solenoid hooked up to.

Cheers will do, thats probably why the car felt abit laggier.
