now if u had more gears then shouldn't u be able to get to top speed even faster??[/baffle]

if you have enough pull-ur-a$$-down-the-track strength (torque), then you can afford to have nice wide gearing like in a two speed. less gear changes = quicker, more repeatable and more reliable performance. Less complicated, and puts the power down off of the line better.

Depends on how you do it. We did it the RIGHT way. The trans was cut and drilled to accept a 2JZ bellhousing. A custom torque converter was built to mate the trans to the stock flexplate. An adaptor allows the TH400 to bolt to the stock crossmember. A custom driveshaft was also built. The stock shifter works, and the trans even has a custom electronic lockup unit that handles 1000+hp.

Check the photo I posted and see the nice fit. No tunnel trimming required! :)
