I was extremely bored today, so I was looking through all my old car photo albums, and stumbled across this classic picture. Back in the day when I was first year apprentice with all the Xstrata Boys, good times hey Kingy? ;)

F***ing hooligans :P

I'm chasing an AAC/IACV for my car if anyone has one. The GTR and RB25 ones are different I think so will need to be off an RB25 probably. Let me know if anyone has one.

Car's lost its nose now:

you look very pleased with yourself in this picture lol

Yeah Sean I had fun that day.

Packing the FJ now for the long journey to Jambo. Gonna have to leave bright and early. It will be a slow trip towing the Caravan. Maybe Kingy and I could join the grey nomad society and sit on 80km/h and don't let anyone pass us

You need to buy a 20ft caravan and tow it with a AU falcon to get into the grey nomad club.. f**k those people frustrate me so much on the highway!

Cheers guys,

It was a great result for the weekend of racing, got another world record under the belt and the car survived with no breakages.

The car done 2 x 8secs passes for the weekend Sat done a 8.54 and Sun got a 8.39. Both runs were done in the morning, the track was very unpredictable losing and gaining grip through out the day making it hard for us to adapt the tune for the conditions. We couldn't piece together a perfect run as the car is quite capable of a 7.9 sec pass but we only had to go faster than 8.47 to get the world record. Still extremely happy with the 8.39sec @ 164mph with 1.30 sec 60ft.

Next goal is to go for a 7's with the same setup and make it harder for the next pour bastard to break it.

A big thanks to the RBE crew this week, The King brothers Matt and Andrew, Dave Sheehy and Mark Jacobsen for all the help couldn't have done it with out you's guys. + friends and family that cheered us on.

Looking forward to next year.

Will take a week to sort out video's and pictures, got some awesome footage to edit.

Engine news....

Upgraded to a VH45 throttle body. Direct fit on the Greddy manifold and quite a bit bigger than standard throttle body:

And thanks to Leon the bung for the IAT sensor is welded into the manifold now. Going to start painting it this afternoon so should look a bit nicer then :)

    • What could be causing my clutch problem besides a bad master or slave then? Both those parts are new
    • Just came across this, but in QLD I start leave again in 2 weeks, if it is still available I might drive up and check it out Unless, @MBS206 do you live near here????, if so I could hit you up with a finders fee https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hope-island/auto-body-parts/nc-mx5-factory-hard-top/1328976391
    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered
    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
