Hi people

I need to weld my wastegate on a standard rb20 manifold i know it can be welded on the top but i really need it welded on the bottom. Now my car's pretty bare no air con no nothing so it shoud fit if i run i 2" pipe down and then mount the wastegate. The question i want to know is how much will it cost to weld that up to the standard manifold and what is the downside of doing this. and no i'm not going to buy a manifold with a gate on it cause i've been through 3 of them already i just want to use the standard one.

Cheers

might be a bit difficult to weld into the standard cast manifold.

dunno, probably can be done with alot of the heat concentrated into the manifold. maybe you could find someone who has done/will do it.

however, the way i've seen it done is to buy/make a piece that goes between the manifold "outlet" flange and the turbine housing "inlet" flange. this piece is essentially a box with flanges to suit the manifold and turbo then have a pipe coming of it (downwards if you want) with a flange to suit the external gate.

I have to ask, why have you been through 3 of them?

There is absolutely no reason you should have unless you cut a corner and purchased a cheap sh|t one and didnt re-enforce it correctly

All of them were reinforced and i had flex pipe installed on the exahst but they still cracked and they were fairly cheap though
