hi guys

had a little problem with my car this morning. i put the key in, the reds come on and everything is fine. i try to start the egine the ignition just goes on for ages so i stop and try to start it up again.

the 2nd time i try no reds come on and nothing happens.

i take the key out, try that again and the reds come on. there is fuel, the battery has got around 12V in them and so i turn on the ignition and it just goes "didididi" and the car won't start. all the meters just go to zero and the reds are gone. i try this several times and try to mess around with the car alarm but still the car won't start up.

i think it might have something to do with the alarm so i looked around the alarm manual but can't find anything that can help. i own an autowatch alarm and immobiliser.

any solutions i can try? thanks.

dude...if u try igniting with the "red" LED on...the car definitely wouldn't start..

upoon "unlocking" the car ...u;re given 1 min to ignite the car...or the immboilser will kick in

solution...press the button one more time, and see the red "LED" go off...then ignite..

hope tat helps

you havent mentioned if you check the coil packs are getting power, or if they are whether the plugs are all fowled.

once you're positive that you have fuel and spark, then worry about electrical faults.

to me it sounds like there is a wire that goes to the coil packs that is shorting on a wire that turns the car "on"

visibly check all wire connections and if you dont find anything, get the multimeter out and a wiring diagram and play "needle in the hay stack"

you can only hope its something simple.

    • Hey, like MBS206 mentioned; I dropped off my short block and rotating assembly Monday. With a quick verification, he believes he can clear it up with just a hone and new rings but he will confirm once the rotating assembly is out. If I were you, I would either go stroker or just replace the block if it does need to be bored over to next size. Block is cheaper then forged pistons.
    • live in the UK, and London has introduced a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) that requires individuals to pay £13 if their car doesn’t meet the required emissions standards.   The standard specifies that NOx emissions must be less than 0.08 g/km (i.e., the vehicle must meet Euro 4 standards or better, which generally results in NOx levels of around 0.08 grams per kilometer).   I reached out to Nissan UK, and they advised me to contact Nissan Japan directly. Does anyone have contact details for Nissan Japan or any certifications of conformity that show the emission details or NOx levels for the RB25DET engine?   Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    • these guys recommended to me and supplied custom 4 inch mufflers, couldn't be happier. They will spec a muffler to your preferred level of sound and know RB's well.  https://spmufflers.com.au/
    • Yeah this used to happen to me every year and a quick call would at least raise the agreed value back up / reduce the premium, but usually both.    That said for the first time on the renewal this year our agreed values went up or stayed the same over the fleet and the premium came down so that was a nice surprise.
    • I don't even go that hard core. I just say "how do you expect me to stay, when you increase my premium, and reduce the value of the car?"   Then play a game of shut the f**k up. Most of the time it's a computer that did the adjustment, and the people will happily change it around for you.
