my brother in law bought a skyline the other day from an auction for $13k

i am a bit suss about it because he said it has a turbo but when i asked him if he had checked to make sure it was a GTS-T (because it was debadged) he hadnt.

my questions are as follows:

how much difference is there between a turbo and non-turbo?

has anyone here tried to turbocharge a GTS before?

should it give the same results as a GTS-T?

will this affect insurance because it is not a factory turbocharger?

also, are there any good insurers that will let you insure under your wifes name (better history and a year older) but not include your intimate details (bad record) but still cover you to drive it?

(sorry, but i dont know the turbocharger type in case anyone wanted to know)

so many questions any help is appreciated

thankyou all for your time

i always thought puttin a turbo in n/a engine is a bit iffy cauz the compression ratios r different and to do it u'd have try and change the gaskets and stuff to get the right ratio. as far as performance goes unless u match the ratios then u can run the same boost as standard otherwise u have to run lower boost to avoid damage which means less power?? if i'm wrong in this ....then please correct me....

i reckon just car insurance is pretty good for modded cars but i think they check nominated drivers records.

Yeh i think ure right on the money there m8. I think from stories ive heard that its cheaper, easier and more reliable to just sell the car and buy a turbo.

U are looking at a hell of a lot of work to make a it a T and in the end its just not worth it.

mas 2 - i know this sounds basic, but have you confirmed it either way if its a factory gts or gtst yet?

easy way usually is to check the wheels, 4 stud = non turbo from factory, 5 stud = turbo(however, could have had stud conversion)...

but thats the easy way i can think of... also, have you confirmed it has a turbo in it?
