two40
Did it have a sweet taste to it? If it did, it's time for a change. how many k's have you done since you bought it? Birty
not that many, can't remember, i think it may have been changed at some stage by the guy I got it off. Not to sure, but it's all good. Once I get around to it I'll get around to it. Need to get a filter too though or else it's a bit pointless. Boostzor
U taste ure oil????? 8O thats a new one prolly good idea though but then again y not just remember when u changed it last. Im using penrite pedigree 5w-30 i have heard that its good. I think royal purple is a bit expensive and its excessive if u change oil every 5000 as long as u dont put kmart multigrade crap in. AndyMac
Tranmission oil needs to be thin, an idea i'm about to try is to use the highesy grade automatic transmission fluid in my manual box..with some uniglide or the other stuff (can remember name). Suppose to make the box really smooth. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/14-oils-aint-oils/page/2/#findComment-251 Share on other sites
WiL
i've heard many say that mobil 1 is too thin and shouldnt be used after 100,000 ks on skylines.... hmmmm i been using it for a while now tho i'm thinking of changing ot redline. adam 32
yeh mobil 1 5W50 is too thin for a worn engine, redline or agip 10W40 would be better im surprised to hear alot of you using mobil 1, ive been told by quite a few people to stay clear of it - not good quality etc... two40
i'm changing my oil soon and i was going to buy mobil 1 or royal purple. now not so sure. what else do you guys use? 5 - 50 10 - 40 ??? adam 32
depends on your engine really if its worn, done alot of kms or hard kms then use a thicker oil - 10W40 if the engine is in relatively standard condition, low ks and hasnt been really pushed then 5W50 would be fine the only other one is 15W50 but id say thats too thick.... adam 32
yeh its not so much k's but engine wear, which conincedently does increase the more k's the engine has done if your engine is worn id consiser using something other than 5W50 but if the engines still in good nick then theres no problems!! Shell
and how exactly do you tell if your engine is "worn"? I have over 100,000 kays... the last 30,000 were done by me, so pretty gentle. Can't really know before that, but it seems to have been treated very well. Should i change to a thicker oil anyway?
