Just a quick update on what ive been doing with it lately.

I have been running through the vital signs and so far i have injector pulse, spark, but not a proper fuel supply out of the tank. I drained it dry when it was out and have only put in 10 litres since. It doesnt seem to be picking up enough fuel, just bubbles and splashes fuel occasionally. Im thinking because i drained the tank dry it has emptied the container the pump sits in. The fuel level still isnt high enough to fill the surge pot the pumps in. Either that or im looking at getting a Bosch 044 alot earlier. Another thing to note is the front of the car is up on stands so that angle may also make a difference.

I've properly setup the throttle linkages so the accelerator is all setup now. Fuel system, is complete minus fuel pressure from pump at this stage. Oil cooler and filter relocator is completed minus a bracket for the core. Ive had alot more parts electro-plated, such as: All front suspension fastners, flywheel backing plate, random engine bay bolts, gearbox casing bolts, etc.

I've picked up a few second hand bargains lately. I've got a Sard pod kit, Apexi pod kit, OEM front strut brace, and an excellent condition dash. Still waiting to finalise payment on another RH Quarter glass. I'll decide which pods i want to use when i receive them both.

When i upgrade the fuel system i wont be using the stock airflow meters anyway. I'll most likely use Z32's with an Apexi suction kit.

Wow nice build! I would never have the dedication to go this far, mainly because i love driving. If i owned a Veyron i would still drive it rally style on dirt roads, just the way i am :P This thread is a very good read for fellow R32 GTR owners as you get an insight into how everything fits together!

There was a chap in the US or UK that had his EVO VI (i think) fully restored by a company that specialises in it.. Cost him $60,000 from memory but it was sooooo bloody nice! The underbody was stripped bare and then painted without any sound deadening. It made it look so much better! Other than that car, yours has made my jaw drop the most :D

I could never leave my GTR parked for long enough to do that!!! I say this with nothing but respect

YOU NEED TO GET YOURSELF CHECKED OUT!!!!

That is inspiring and kinda scary... I am pretty sure that as time goes on there will plenty more people going down this path with R32s and I think we will have people like you to thank for the Legend of these cars being escalated and carried into the future. (think GTHO)

P.S. UPDATES OR :P

Still working on painting the underside now. Im not sure if im turning this into a bigger job than it was or if its just more involved than i thought it was going to be...Anyway its taking alot longer than i anticipated, to do it correctly anyway. I first washed down the underbody with sugar soap and hot water (turned my hands all wrinkly and screwed up for hours). Then i wiped it down with wax and grease remover. The stuff i had lined up from wurth is in a aerosol can. Its not very thick and i found it quite dull, matt even. Possibly because you can paint over it? You can buy another thicker version of stone guard from wurth and it seems to have a slightly more glossy finish and gives a uniform roughness to the underside. The problem with this is that you also need to purchase a gun to use it with an air compressor. Its annoying to have to buy somthing that'll you only use once but i guess i have no option.

I added a foto of:

The subframe after initial removal

The subframe nearly complete

First go at aerosol wurth stoneguard

What do you guys reckon? I think i wanna go with the thicker one.

Hey mate i need to ask you , did you change your K-Frame floor mount bushes? There is four of them. The reason why i ask is that i trying to track these down and Nissan tells me that you can not buy these on there own, That you have to buy the whole k-frame. Is this true?

Hey Adriel, never heard of a K-Frame...are you referring to the rear subframe maybe?

Hey, sorry about my lack of updates. I was kicked out of my rental property as they were selling it. With 2 weeks to move I got all my stuff and the gtr into storage. Hence the lack of updates. I'm staying with a friend and along with everything else my pc is stored at the moment.

However I have still been getting a few things sorted out with the gearbox. Minus the selector forks etc, it's complete. Now I have to decide if I want to check out my transfer case.

The rear subframe bushes were in good condition on my car so I just fitted pineapples to it. I know that it's possible to buy new uprated bushes for the subframe from nismo off nengun etc. Brendan fitted them to him Silvia. I'm suprised Nissan won't sell them separately.

More soon,

Hi there - very nice read your masterpiece is coming together very nicely. I read you're after an 044 - I've got one I used in my r33 gtst - it did about 15000 kays. If you're interested PM me a price and I'll most likely take it. I bought it new and it comes with check valve.

Cheers

I've been working at getting this gearbox completed. I know it's a slow process but it's been a bit of a challenge lately. I ordered a new c ring from Nissan but for some reason they only sent me half of it which makes no sense as there are a number of thicknesses to choose from to minimise groove clearance. So unless only one half was broken why else would I only need half? :) Anyway I'm currently waiting on the second half to come out of japan just like it's twin brother a few days earlier. I've installed the shift forks and rods into the gearbox, but still waiting on the re-plated bolts to really get thing going back together. I've decided not to paint the casings as I like the bare alloy look and with the good weather driving it will see I doubt the case will have a chance to oxidize. I've gotten the transfer out of storage and will commence work on it in the next week or two.

Sorry about the lack of pics but my pc is still in storage too.

More soon,

wow what a great read, real car porn! Love your attention to detail and cleaning everything perfectly and replacing it... looks unbelievable.

I love stock but I have to say your engine bay is looking spectacular!

Just waiting for you to get a new house I guess.. hopefully with a big garage and a pit!?

Good luck

Hey guys,

Finally moved into my place and got an internet connection! The car is safely stored in my garage here so work can continue. I have since completed the gearbox and im 50% done with the transfer case. So it wont be long till i can fire it up. Hopefully by the end of the year maybe? I do plan on making a few clips of things like first fire, dyno run in and tuning. I will get more pics asap of all the work since my last post from home back in June/July.

I've had the glass tinted to i think it was 20% so once i pick that up i will put them all back in with the new mouldings etc.

Im desperate to find an excellent condition, brand name, stainless steel front pipe for the car. Anyone? I'll be buying a Trust power evolution cat back at this stage.

More to come very soon,

Well done Deren. Good to hear you're still at it.

Did you end up doing the ceramic coating on all the hot parts? I did that on my R32 build and the difference in underbonnet heat was astounding. Had turbine housings, heat shields, manifolds, dumps and front pipe all coated in black.

Sillbeer is in recess at the moment - engine is getting a full rebuild, not that there was anything wrong with the actual build, just the parts we used originally. The head had to come off for a replacement, so it a chance to get it all buttoned up right. Looking forward to your next posting.

Hey Brendan,

I didnt get the parts coated as i couldnt really afford it as my non-existent budget was already blow way out! Trying to get things completed so i can have it running again. Been a long time between drives! Im sorting out some more plating work for the transfer case bolts and some body work that needs redoing. Once they are both done i will be able to put the windows back in and the gearbox back in then get it run in and tuned at Godzilla Motorsport by Mark Jacobsen.

Good luck with the silvia, look forward to hearing updates.

Regards,

Deren

Hey all,

Ive recently ordered NIStune for my car and an Apexi N1 Pro exhaust. They should both be arriving sometime next week. A week or so ago i got myself one of Peter's ECU Talk consult screens also. Its a great way to monitor the engine and for the price you can't beat it! It also allows me to connect the ECU to my laptop, instead of buying a cable which is roughly half the price of the consult screen.

Im trying to organise to get this last lot of bolts re-plated so i can put the transfer case back together and get it all back in the car. Somewhere in between all that i have to get the car back to the paint shop to get a couple more things done too. Ive had the glass all tinted but i can't put any of it back in until the panels are completed. I fitted my new dash not so long ago too. It looks great! I will most likely be adding Cyberstork white faces to all the gauges and the brushed aluminium look backing with bezel rings to modernize the dash.

Pics when the parts arrive,

Deren
