The drive sounds good!

It hasn't been retuned anymore yet. I've done just over 2000kms, so time to drop out the mineral and switch to a synthetic. I'm not overly fussed for more power.

It had no rust but there was some panels replaced during the bodywork at Darwens in Brisbane. It wasn't a bare metal paint job but it is an awesome finish and being silver it would be obvious if there were any imperfections.

I used Cleveland Nissan for all my genuine parts and would deffinetly recommend them.

The rails under the car were perfect however recently I managed to dent one myself which i was extremely mad at myself for. When I can afford it, the car will go back to Darwens for a few jobs and I'll have them repair it then.

thanks for that. I'm on fairly good terms with norris (metro windsor) myself. I think you are the reason most of this stuff is ex MLB. I have been on the phone today chasing panels and 90% of it was local!

I'll have a chat with the people that did your suspension as they are on my side of town and since you mentioned they painted the front end of yours I'll get them to do the same with mine.

Hey,

Im glad you can get your parts mostly locally. I painted all the underbody parts myself. Im pretty fussy with how it looks and what paint was used :(

Over the last couple of weeks i've removed the rear diff, tail shaft, exhaust, etc. Im repacking the lsd to give a more aggressive lock. Breakaway torque will be very similar but the lock will be much harder. After much researching i found a cheap easy way to accomplish this. After checking over and 'micing' up the plates in the LSD ive found they are in excellent condition so they will remain. I was going to replace them with Nismo plates but its not necesary on this occassion.

While the rear diff is out im setting up a custom diff breather/catch can with braided line and speed-flow fittings. I've noticed there is regularly drips of oil from the little breather cap on the rear diff cover. It makes quite a mess and since the oil level was right i decided it needed a bit of additional breathing ability. I'll take some pics once i have it completed before it goes back in the car. You will be hard pressed to spot it once it all fitted up.

Another area im looking at is my tail shaft as the centre cv joint in the shaft is spraying grease out and making a mess under the tunnel. I've decided to dis assemble it and repack it with new grease then seal it up so it doesnt leak.

More soon on progress with pics,

Deren

Rick here.. Long time no see... Thank you for your effort to go and look at that R32 Vspec2 for me... It arrived yesterday.

For those who dont know Deren and I have been mates for many years, and when I owned my 93 GTR Vspec, Deren bought his GTR. I unfortunately had to sell my 93 Vspec due to financial reasons, but now, after watching and listening and even visiting Deren's unfinished car back in 07 up in QLD.. I have been inspired to buy another GTR.

Deren it must be true, we have inspired each other...

Great build mate.. And I hope one day we can go cruizing together...

Thanks Rick :)

It's been awhile between my posts, sorry for that. Diff is back in the car with new custom breather can. Unfortunately no pics were taken :( it's working great though. Probably slightly overkill, but none the less it's doing the job intended. Diff feels great with the changed LSD plate order. Ended up spacing the pinion mount bushes to stop the thumping. Worked a treat. Apparently the tube inserts in the bushes compress. Personally I can't see it but it's done the job!

Deren, major fan. i'd consider myself a fellow r32 GT-R purist. i've been a long time reader but i've never posted before.

i thought i'd have another look at this build last night and turns out i read it from the beginning fully charged lap top till dead lap top hahaha. i put it on charge tonight and continued reading till the end!

amazing stuff. i'm sure you've heard all of this before but it's been a dream of mine but realistically something i'll never get around to. i have been fixing anything on mine that needs attention but lately hit a wall. put a new clutch in it on stands in the drive way (2nd year apprentice mechanic) and just fitted two new gt2860 -7's and have had major troubles :( i didn't pre lube the turbos (massive mistake i know but i didn't know) i idled the car in the drive way for about an hour before driving it and then drove it tame for about 10 minutes until one turbo is screaming at me now. possibly $2300 down the drain and i'm cut. took me so much saving! clutch feels good though so it's not all bad news but the front turbo is now on the floor of the shed again. and i'm taking it to get inspected tomorrow hopefully if i can get away from trade school early. i'm in awe of your build and am very keen to see some final product pictures?

seen your latest videos

for anyone else interested here's tuned-6 in action on the road but it's still not enough! i'd love a few high quality walk around videos and driving videos.

invested a lot of reading time into this car and need a bit of closure!

thanks for sharing this build with us and i hope to see more soon! hope i can have mine back up and running this weekend or next weekend.

cheers, sam.

Hey again guys, thanks for the replies! It's been along time between check ins for me. I've not done a lot to the car lately but I do have a few things planned for it soon.

I will be changing my Nistune for a Vipec plugin ecu. Nothing compares to the power of the latest technology. Vipec are releasing a new plugin with direct fire ignition, so it will do away with wasted spark ignition. I want to buy a link dash to keep me informed of current data so I don't need gauges everywhere. Nistune has been great value for money but for all out tuneability I need to upgrade. I will likely sell my Nistune board so if anyone is interested in it or my Ecu talk screen feel free to contact me via email.

I also plan to upgrade the fuel system. I will fit an 044 pump in tank, a set of 1000cc ID injectors and I will more thank likely change my cheap reg for a better turbosmart item.

From there I can finally wind up the boost and start getting some decent power out of it. On pump fuel ill push it upto about 20 psi, maybe one day I'll run sucrogen E85 but for now I'll be happy with BP Ultimate.

Cheers guys, talk soon.

Hey guys,

Sorry for no replies about the car but there hasnt been too much to tell. I did end up fitting the 044 in tank, ID1000cc injectors, and a Turbosmart FPR1200 reg. I tuned the car with a Vipec plug-in ecu which runs the car very well. On 20psi it made 410hp at all four. Still have factory cam shafts though so it choked it up and woudnt allow me to put much timing into it. Also still have the factory intercooler so it really needs a better one for lower intake temps. Stock ones seem to get up around 50deg once you start working it.

The 2860-5 turbos are great for a mild upgrade but im thinking to sell them and fit a 6boost manifold and a precision 6766 turbo with a precison 46mm gate. That setup will be good for 500hp on pump fuel on 20psi and alot more on e85. So basically i will be selling everything on the turbo side. Includes HKS extension kit (split dumps), Apexi front pipe, Sard filters and adapters, all lines (polished), all piping (chrome plated), etc..

If anyone is interested in the turbo setup let me know. I havent listed them for sale yet so whoever reads this will get first dibs.

    • Hi, does anyone know how I can, or can a moderator remove this advertisement please.  Has been sold a long time ago and would like to remove references. Thanks.
    • There are adaptors that allow you to delete the booster and use an s15 clutch master cylinder.    if you want to keep the booster they are still available brand new
    • I visited again today: It would appear they have painted the main body of the car and some parts of some of the panels, so I can say that I now have BMW parts in my car, much to the envy of @Dose Pipe Sutututu It is still covered in dust which is quite the tease but I did look at a few circumspect spots that will be behind bumpers and such and wiped some dust away: After my repeated begging to PLEASE DONT PAINT OVER THE ENGINEERING CERTIFICATE (you have to re-engineer the entire car if they do) I see THIS: Which is great. Excellent job tbh at least to me. A better non dusty example would be the backs of the doors that have been painted: Giving a reasonable contrast between old and new (I know the old isn't clear coated on the inside of doors). The door card will well and truly cover where the old paint is, you can see in the second pic some of the black butyl/whatever shit is sticking the plastic sheet behind the door transfer that has happened since it's clearly been stuck back on. The most maddening thing about this colour is every time I saw it in the wild it looks like another colour, same with photos of many cars with the same colour looking wildly different in every photo anybody ever takes and this is no exception. But stand a little further back and it suddenly looks dark AF. I did tell them when I was discussing which of the 70 million charcoal colours to choose from (a porsche one, a BMW one, or a R32 GTR one etc) that if they just ignored me and chose one at random I would probably never notice. Maybe they did. But the colour is supposed to be B39 (BMW Mineral Gray). Boring I know, but the R34 sedan (to me) really shows off it's boat-ness when you paint it in a bright colour like bayside blue or white or whatever else. I do have a fondness for AR2 Nissan Red, but decided against that because it'll have pretty odd contrast to random bits unpainted (like engine bay, bits of trim etc, and maybe it'll fade). And people will always fkin comment on AR2. Everything remains super dusty. I have tracking numbers for the new heads, as well as some Improved Racing goodies, but they probably will be a next year thing by the time they end up on the car. I did some maths on the heads and I know why nobody goes to this extent in Australia, because it's really not worth it, given I could have just CNC'ed my current heads, bought a FAST102/TB and used my current rocker/spring/cam combination and get a 383 stroker (or stroked a 6.0 GenIV bottom end to 6.6L) built for the same price of just the setup in the mail/on the floor here. Or I could have bought a LS3 and a Drysump system. And then have a complete engine to sell. Oh well
    • We just disconnected the vacuum line if I remember correctly, booster is still there. Is there a rebuild solution for the booster or a different adapter that will work for GTR chassis?
    • Yeah 4wd (boosted) has a recess in the firewall for the booster, and 2wd is flat - the example in the link shows the flat surface. When you deleted the booster, did you just attach the factory slave cylinder directly to the recess in the firewall with no adaption?
