heh u noticed that too eh?

A mates 32 has all 4 that lights up and only 2 do on mine. I agrree - A little info from some1 would be great.

btw 32godzilla is that your car on your avatar? Its hot! What sorta front skirt extension/front bar have u got on it??

My understanding is that correctly complied cars (ie no shortcuts) only light up two outside tail lights with parkers, and when you brake all four light up.

My car lights up all four with parkers/headlights, and when i brake they simply glow brighter. Ok so my car wasnt complied properly... so what.

... and in case a complier chooses to attack me for providing misinformation about the industry, this is what has been said about my car.

Shortcuts isnt necessarily the reason. I spoke to my compliancer about this very issue. He said the paperwork he recieves from canberra sometimes has it listed, sometimes it doesnt. A compliancer will only do what is listed as a requirement.

Apparently the ADR papers vary not only in years of production but in MONTHS of production too. Its very strange.

My b/f got told when he got his GTR that in compliance two of the lights are disconnected/cut as when you look an an Aussie delivered 32 GTR, their indicators and reverse lights are different to the imported version, i.e An import's indicators are where an Aussie delivered's reverse lights are, apparently.

It easy just to re-solder the wires back together, then you'll have all 4 light up.

Thanks for the info people, I'll have a look for any "cut" wires and post another reply as soon as I find anything. Four lights look better lit up than two i reckon - that's all. (like the 33's)

deorbit, not sure what front lip I've got as it came with the car, and to be honest never realised until about 2 weeks ago when I checked out another 32 GTR!

  • 2 weeks later...

I finally had a look the other day and yes there was a green wire in each light cut, just crimped them back together and 4 lights.

Prank, that sounds about right but why then do R31 Skylines have the same set up i.e. 5 brake lights and parker lights??

I have heard that they disconnect the outside two tail lights because there is an ADR that says something about the indicators are not allowed to be in board of any tail lights....hence the disconnection.... Also explains why Nissan rearranged the light configuration on the Aus-spec GTR's.

But as you have found out, piece of piss to reconnect :P:P

The ADR rules say that you need to disable the park lights on an R32 GTR, but as for R32 GTSt, there's no such rule as yeah, there is a center brake light. If you were to remove this, I'm told you can dicked by the cops for having all 4 afterburners active. But I've never heard of this ever happening so muh.

Lol I've got a spoiler brake light AND my SKYLINE lights up too (factory option)... now if I can get a replacement bulb and be bothered putting it in then yeah I'd be driving with 6 brake lights lol.

    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
    • They do. The pale yellow translucent ones from Japan were .... I dunno. Useless? Whiteline and SuperPro are probably fairly similar. There's bound to be a range of different hardnesses amongst the dozens of options on the market. The simple fact is that the pineapples don't get up inside the bush at all. They just sort of exist in the space between the washer/bracket and the subframe's bush outer tube, and...exert a bit of force between them? Or something like that. I'm sure that with enough provocation, they will simply allow one to move wrt the other.
    • I'm not sure they came in different hardnesses? Going from memory only - I had set them up in the balanced setup. I also have poly bushes, so I have both poly bushes and pineapples. This is what my memory tells me at least. I'll have to take a look under there to be sure. The tramp was so bad that I managed to eject/kill a diff bushing, so those I know are stock. The tramp is bad enough that you are 200% sure you are doing severe damage to the car. It's not just chirping or vibration, it feels like you're hitting a speed hump/kerb 10 times a second. The issue has persisted between subframes! (I went from Hicas to non hicas subframe and replaced every bush a few years ago now) so I'm entirely lost. Every arm is factory.
    • Can recommend the Frenchys kit, been using it 2 years now with no issue, very happy with it.  Only thing for me was upgrading the thermo fan but I am super fussy on cooling.   Also interested in electric AC, partly for boot mount to have a clean bay and partly would love the idea of cooling off the car before i get in. The battery setup to do that might be tricky / expensive though.  Found this an interesting watch.
    • I put Whiteline pineapples in my old 33, they came in a 6 pack of them, got rid of the axle tramp altogether, cheap, quick and easy install,  they were pretty solid units though...???high durometer???? and NVH was increased a fair bit How hard are the ones you installed?
