ok, well it seems that there is an even spread amongst the people, some drive their skylines and some have less than adventurous daily weapons :S ...

the legacy wagon is a cool and different idea, and the camira is well umm yeah.....

Dane: I would normally steer clear of french build cars but the gti6 has grown and grown on me, i always liked the vr6 golfs but they are somewhat thirsty and getting a bit old compared to the pug, I know the seating position is a bit strange to say the least as i've driven the older 205gti and the newer 206gti both which are a pretty fun car to drive,

i have to sell another car before i can go shopping though. keep the thread going, it seems like a winner :)

You won;t be dissapointed with a 306 gti-6 man! Take a look at aussiefrogs.com, and the gti-6 owners club in the UK for some more info if you need it.

I tossed up between the VR6 and the GTi-6 and obviously ended up going the VR6 route, but either would be a great choice, and the pug would certainly cost less to keep on the road.

As for 205GTi's... I will own one as soon as I have somewhere to put it! Tarmac rally 205... mmmmmmm

I drive the R31 line to work and the R32 line on the weekends...

Love the 32 but don't like risking leaving in the street. (The r31 was hit and run)

r31 is getting a bit tired though... needs complete suspension work over. (engine runs well @ 260,000km)

So I have the same problem...what do I do?

Spend $1500+ fixing the r31?

or sell it and spend another $4000 - $8000 on a tow vehicle/daily driver

haha, yeah i have been browsing those forums for a while now, just reading up.

that little 205 is sick: post-9640-1161839728.jpg

I have a couple of friends who have pugs or have had in the past, including a 93ish 205 gti series 3 limited edition with leather and a few factory options, he told me buyer beware, if things break on pugs they break properly and, for example you should budget approx 1200-1800 for a clutch (incl install) that is a lot of coin, i wouldn't spend that on my nissan let alone daily frog breath hatchback. i've still got a while to go before i will be buying so knowing me i'll change my mind another 10 times.

A replacement clutch for a gti-6 is around $900 from peugeot, excluding labour I think, but if you shop around you can pick one up for about $400 I think. The gearbox would be my biggest concern, replacement cost is 7k... ouch :P

A Sorrento 205 would be nice, but 90% are clagged by now...

yeah but how cool is the idea of a tiny little hatch with a 6 speed box, if the box is genuinely worth 7k it'd want to be half decent and unbreakable with standard power... well maybe a chip and remus and intake...springs...swaybar..sticky tyres, see i'm at it again, cars aren't cool at all.

I have a poo brown 79 Gemini.

The odometer is on its 5th way round and its great for knocking over bins and going over speed humps without slowing down.

Hahahah classic, reminds me of my mates oldschool Range Rover that we used to take for late-night "Bin Runs" :)

I doubt you'd have too many troubles man, but something to keep in mind if it does happen. If you want to drive one I'm sure he'll be cool with letting you take it for a spin.

haha it's never ending man... I wasn't supposed to mod the clubbie either...but...you know...

He has induction, eibachs, remus and a system so far, and soon rims and new clutch. A few little mods and the car has come alive.

    • Welcome back to the scene! Godzilla Motorsports were well regarded back in the day.  My GT-R had work done there prior to my ownership.   SRS (Street Race Solutions) in Toowoomba worth a look.  They've built some pretty wild Skylines. Their YouTube channel is comedic to watch!  I'm sure they're all on the glass BBQ but they get shit done! 🤣
    • Hard to say what the extra connector is, it looks a bit like a coax type connector, so possibly a separate radio/GPS antenna, or even another camera input?  The V37 series (including the Q50), did go through a model refresh in 2020, since Australia didn't get any Q50s newer than 2019, we didn't get any of the refreshed models, so there could also be other unexpected problems to overcome to swap an older Q50 head unit into a new model V37. There probably aren't too many people around that have made these sorts of changes to a Q50/V37, so you might end up being the first if you do decide to go ahead. ACP is Apple Car Play and AA is Android Auto, they are roughly the same thing for the 2 major phone operating systems (Apple's iOS and Android), it allows you to connect your phone and access a number of your phone applications on your car system.  With Nav apps included, so you could use google maps/Waze or whatever your favourite navigation app is, instead of using the built in navi system.  I think this would be a better solution if it is only Navigation that you are looking as swapping the head unit for. GPS signals are the same around the globe as the GPS satellites continuously circle the globe, but it is the head unit that doesn't allow you to load Australian maps, or at least no-one had made an Australian map that will load up on the JDM head unit. Regarding the TV standards, I assume you are referring to the AV inputs?  I haven't ever tried to use them, Japan used a slightly modified version of the US NTSC system, and Australia uses PAL for composite video, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a video input could work with either system.  That is mostly irrelevant here though, unless you plan to use those inputs for something?
    • If you've got bucket loads of $. Go single. If not, just upgrade the twins, Garrett -9's or whatever the current equivalent is for a healthy 350awkw and leave it at that. Will probably still cost you 10k to do in this day and age.
    • When you looking to buy injectors?? I could possibly sell you my 1d1700s for decent price. Done little work I just need bigger again 😫
