Hey guys, well I couldn't really find an introduction section of the forums, so I'm going to post it here. I hope the mods are okay with it, but if you aren't you can move it etc.

Firstly, for the Newcastle guys (and girls), I'm from Newcastle so another skyline :)

I posted this on NS.com about 3 days ago, but I thought it might be nice to get some feedback from Skyline owners. I'll be visiting this forum frequently.

I would like you, if you can be bothered to read til the end, because what I'm going to type will help you understand what has made me buy this car, and particular from another state.

For the last few months we (My brother and I, mainly me doing the research) have been looking for a near stock, reasonable condition, SR20DE Manual Nissan Silvia Q's in NSW. However from the few examples we have looked at, they have been in average condition at a high price. I had looked on silviansw.com, carsales, and NS.com the most, about once or twice a day actually for quite a number of weeks now, occasionally jumping on SAU.com (Skylines Australia) to check for the average NA skyline.

However it's been the last month we've started looking interstate for a car, finding SR20DE silvia's, but most auto, or with high k's. So about a month ago I found this Skyline on SAU.com

Was stoked to see the price, and how excellent it looked, so I informed my Dad. Me being 15, I'd rather he proffesionally handle things as we have a better chance of gaining interest from the seller.

So I will now go on to how I afforded this car, and why. Mum and Dad put away $5 in a bank we could not access since kindergarten for my Twin brother and I. Bearing in mind people, that we didn't get a weekly allowance of pocket money or anything. We didn't know any different. We're also well behaved at school, and at home, and help out at home alot actually. That's how we afforded the car, and I think we deserved it.

Why we bought the car. The car cost $9000, now that's alot for a Not-even-L-Plater. But my brother and I went halves, and look what $5 a week each has accumulated to. We had around $5400 each when we bought it. The car is so unique, I don't think we could find a better example for this price in Australia in the next coming months, which is why we bought it early.

As I am a car/import enthusiast I don't know much about the mechanical side of things, but I am willing to learn the basics as I go along.

Some of you may be thinking why we are sharing, and it's probly a stupid idea. We get on well, never fight and for the first year we will only be on our L's anyway. So it's not like we're going to need the car at separate times. Second year we will still be at school, and there's a rare chance it's going to be complicated enough that it's impossible to get us to difference places at the same time. Most the time we'll probly be going to a mates place, and we have the same friends, so we'd go in the same car. Maybe if we wanted to go to our girlfriends or something, that would be tricky, but we could arrange something quite easily.

I think i've missed plenty of things what I said in my last post which got deleted by now, so feel free to ask any questions I've missed.

The car. It's a 1989 Nissan Skyline GTE Sedan (4 Door) which was imported by the first and only owner in Australia. It currently has about 93,000kms. It originally had a single cam engine, RB20E, quite family car spec but the owner from Victoria has put an RB25DE conversion in it, which has only done 50,000kms. It was one of the few Skylines WITHOUT Hicas standard, which may be a good thing as I go on to do a few motorkhanas maybe.

The mods.

Sway Bars

Cusco Strut Brace

Aftermarket Springs

R200 Diff, which he says is still fairly tight

R32 GTST Drive shafts have also been fitted

HKS Priest exhaust (currently not fitted, although Dad will be helping us fit it after it gets passed)

R33 GTR fuel pump

R32 GTST radiator

Brand new Battery

Brand new Clutch fitted 15,000kms ago

5-stud conversion

Replaced cam belt (genuine Nissan)

Replaced spark plugs (Denso iridium Power)

As much as I hate copying and pasting, I don't know the full details of everything yet, and It's my only choice for now ;)

Appearance

Well, the colour I think is a very attractive colour for a stock colour. The colour code if you're interested is (TG0). It hasn't been resprayed. The rims, as what I have read are kind of rare here in Australia. Correct me if I'm wrong, I have alot to learn. Kakimoto is the brand, and I believe they are good quality rims. It has a Genuine Nissan Type-M front bar on it, but also comes with the stock front bar in original colour which I may be fitting as I think I have already found a buyer for the black one. The sideskirts are "genuine sideskirts", think he means just genuine Nissan ones, anyway I think they look great and clean.

It has GTR Headlights and R32 Sedan Series 2 Tail lights, not sure what the difference is from the series 1 ones, but if someone would like to show me that would be appreciated.

It comes with Genuine Electric Ganador Aero Mirrors, to fit R32 however I won't be installing them. I believe they are BRAND NEW, never been fitted, so I am going to be selling them. How much are they worth? I have been told between $300 and $400.

The whole interior is pretty much immaculate.

Momo Wheel

Genuine Nismo Leather Gear Knob :( (It was going to be my first mod if it didn't have it haha)

Carbon Fibre Centre Console Surround

Cyber Stork Dash Kit

Tomei Air Flow Gauge

The audio gear will be taken out, But my sister is giving me some Clarion speaker and a Clarion headunit which is pretty decent. It's an MP3 player and will do for now.

It also has a Remote Start Viper 790xv alarm with immobiliser with boot release, shock sensor and microwave sensor, now I copy and pasted that Lol.

There however is a dent below the fuel latch, which is the only damage on the car.

Plans: Well, we will recieve the car this coming Sunday Night, or Monday. Very Exited.

Our plans so far are to fit the stock front bar, install the Clarion headunit and speakers, fit the exhaust, and give it an all day clean/polish and whatever then go get some picture in King Edwards Park (Local Hillclimb track, you newi guys will know where I'm talking about) which overlooks the ocean. I haye a great interest in photography so expect some nice pics.

I appreciate this car and am going to take great care of it.

Note: These are not my picture, I have not recieved the car yet.

Wow, I think I've covered a lot so far, got any questions?

This may be perhaps the longest recount/essay/some sort of writing thing i've written.

Pics Below ;)

lol that's gaffa's old car. aaaaah many a fond memory of that car, its original engine, and its single spinning diff :)

He put a lot of work into that car, the interior etc. I even remember the day he slaved in the hot sun pulling those Kakimoto rims apart to get them powdercoated and polished up.

Congrats

Yeah, It's gaffa's old car :) By any chance do you know what model skyline (R32/R33) the engine came out of?

And if the ganador mirrors suit the 4 door and the coupes? I've been told the stock mirrors are different, so they fit S13s, and the coupes can't be put on. Wondering if it's the same with the aftermarket ones. Thanks.

Hmm not actually sure... its the non VCT RB25DE I think out of a 1993 R33 GTS25. As for the mirrors you'd have to ask gaf about it.

Car arrived today. One disapointment: The seller said the Ganador (Ganador is the brand) Aero mirrors, which are genuine! were in the boot.

Well, they're not in the boot now, and that was part of the deal why we bought it to get some money back. We're suspecting one of the freight people stole them. We were told items inside the car weren't insured... But what can we do? I'm so disapointed, more than my brother and Dad.

-Jimmy.

Okay well GOOD NEWS. Kind of, The seller said he forgot to put the mirrors in. I am so relieved. So he will send them soon, However it needs caster bar bushes, and upper control arm bushes... We're not too worried about those little things though. :D:D Thanks for the nice comments.

Edited by -Jimmy-

Nice interior.

It will definitely be an Rb25DE from an R32.

The R33's were all released with vct motors. UNLESS some left over non vct motors found their way in to a few rare R33's, you never know with nissan. Look at their R33 S1.5's. :P

None the less the power figures etc will be the same as that of the R32 RB25DE. Soooo Similiar to a stock rb20det. :(

Car looks great no doubt.

But forget that..

I have to say that your post, as a 15 year old is probably the most mature post I have ever seen.

Not one single txt talk word.

Not one single stupid remark.

Well done.

And good luck with the car and sharing.

I hope you have budgeted for insurance.

It may just be a non turbo but that won’t deter thieves.

Please get comprehensive insurance.

Cheers
