$400 seems like a good price.. apexi avc-r is $700 but they seem really good... but if u reckon the cheaper one is ok might look into that

Don;t use a single solenoid controller if you want to go to 1.2 bar or above.

I would recommend a Blitz unit. Take you pick which of the dual solenoid version you prefer. I got an ID III

just make sure you match your wastegate spring to suit the higher boost, that way your controller wont be working as hard to bleed off.

cheers

I've got a similar setup to what gun32gtr wants to do to his car.

Garrett 2860r(-5), Dump pipes, Exhaust, EBC, PFC, Splitfire coils, Jim Berry Clutch on a standard unopened motor showing 105xxxkm's.

All that made 275awkw at 18psi.

I'm by no means the worlds best driver and i still managed an 11.72 @ 118mph on my 4th pass on shitty bald street tyres.

I think that the mods you've got listed are fine and your car should be capable of 11's comfortably. I'd definately go with the 2860r's. They spool at around 2800rpm and hit full boost by about 4500rpm.

I hope all goes well for you.

agreed

the AVC-R wont cut it.

You need a dual for sure. send a PM to ferni. I cant remember what EBC he ended up with, but he had to change as he had issues

im doing my turbos soon as well, and i have GT2860-5s in mind. i was told they are quite responsive, yet still bigger than the GTSS. can anyone tell me when their 2860s (2530s) spoll up in the stock 2.6l engine?

Also the -5... bigger than GT-SS... are they are same as 2530's essentially???

I get confused between the "-5 & -7" :D

It is important to set the RPM limiter at say 7700....so you don't.

320Awkws with a t04z?What power rating is the turbo?

gun32gtr,

The other thing is that with the gt-ss turbo's your 1/4 mile figures will be( with your mods )around,

12.5 seconds on street tyres and 12's with stickys.

I am searching for 12's with road tyres and 11.5's with stickys and thats why I picked the 2530's.

Dont pay to mush attention to awkws and rwkws,....look at the times people have posted up

then look at the power levels they are producing .(most of the time they are inconsistent.)

It is also wise to see the modifications they have completed and what tune and boost they normally run.

Cheers and good luck with the upgrade.

8 grand is fine. the idea is to not rev it past that. and not rely on a oil pump destroying rev limiter. oh its a "800hp" item.

11.7@ 116mph and boost is 1.2 bar.

I've only got standard cams/cam gears. I did a comp test before the dyno (about 6 months ago). All cylinders around the 155 mark. I just did another comp just the other week. All cylinders still the same, just cylinder 6 was down at 150, but that could be due to a number of reasons.

The car feels really strong with heaps of torque.

Boost eases on between 2800 and 4000, then after that BANG. I've actually just upgraded injectors, pump and reg. Should hopefully come back with some more power after the dyno. :D

I got my 2860r's from rotomaster in Melbourne. I think i paid around the $1200 mark each.

One of the traders on here is selling them for $1300 each. (CRD i think it was).

Cheers

Yeh, AVCR are real bad...i will give someone $400 for theirs so they can get a Blitz etc. (Seriously)

Its how you set them up...try 8psi spring and running 1.2bar with no probs thru the AVCR...you just have to read the manual...but if your not happy i need a new one :yucky:

I've tuned a GTR with 2860R-5 cams and all the fruit make 460hp on about 23psi of boost before running out of fuel pump. They come with a piss weak wastegate spring on them from memory and I was having trouble controlling boost pressure with an AVCR. Have seen alot of aftermarket boost controller struggle to hold boost at around 3 times the wastegate pressure and below.

I would definately get larger wastegates say 15psi and I would definately get the bosch 044 as there flow rates dont drop as heavily as the pressure goes up compared to alot of the jap stuff.

I would be more inclined to stay with the standard oil pump as well and try your hardest not to bouce the revlimiter as thats what breaks oil pump drives especially brittle N1 drives. If need be raise your rev limiter a couple hundred rpm if it save hitting the revlimiter.

so if u raise the limiter say 8300 then 8000 wont be the limiter and it wont bounce causing the oil pump to break. is that it? i want a fairly safe tune as i want the motor to last a few more yrs if i can...

    • Installed  Nismo coppermix twin competition spec last year in my bnr32 with pull trans with Oem slave cylinder. The point at where the clutch disengages/enages is right at the top of the clutch pedal, meaning I barely have to push the pedal down for the clutch to be disengaged.  You guys that have the same combo are you experiencing this high pedal bite point??   Secondly I’d like to have the disengagement point lower meaning I have to push the pedal more(further not effort)for it to be disengaged.  I’m thinking to use a Nismo big operating cylinder(bigger bore at 13/16 vs Oem 3/4) which will require more pedal stroke to get the equivalent movement at the clutch fork. But I see Nismo web site says not to mix these 2 as the Nismo big operating cylinder doesn’t have enough stroke to disengage??? Any folks run both the coppermix twin pull with Nismo cylinder??    Thanks in advance for the replies but prefer only guys with pull clutches to respond. thanks
    • Any chance u could let us know where your based ?
    • That’s a great deal and I would jump on it if you were closer. Melbourne is a bit of a hike for me though unfortunately
    • I wonder if there is much to tell without knowing where the bolts where bought from. If it comes from Amazon or similar all bets are off. Can't trust them. And I fear not everybody knows that. Wasn't it @TurboTapin who ended up with the fake fuel lines recently? The submersible ones which very much weren't submersible at all. It kind of applies to everything nowadays. Doesn't matter if it's hardware or electronics. The fancy camera might have internals swapped out for cheap knockoffs. The hard drive will report a certain size but not actually be able to write it all. Shit like that. A bit depressing but the reality is you really have to be weary of where and how you buy stuff
