Hey guys, im currently in the process of getting an rb26 rebuilt and i was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of GTR bearings having to get measured so that you get the correct ones. Someone has told me that all gtr engines have specific bearings for each engine as they have been blueprinted.

Can anyone confirm this and what would happen if the mechanic is ordering genuine bearings from nissan without measuring the old ones first.

Thanks, Mike.

I have a r32 gtr manual and there are different grades of bearings, all to do with how they are machined from yhe factory. got me knackered. We r buildin a rb26 at the mo and it seems as though you just get the crank prepped and new rods and get your bearings to suit.

thats it, if the crank has to be machined due to current wear, you will need oversized bearings, if they are all within std spec they lynish the crank and use std sized bearings

I was told take the bearing to a bearing supplier ....not tell them what its off and they match them up with the identical items.

This is news to me.

I think you will find the bearings you are talking about are the roller type (for the cam belt etc) :)

The crankshaft bearings are a plain type bearing.

Clearences really need to be measured with the bearings in the block, main girdle torqued down correctly with everything clean and the crankshaft measured at the same time (to avoid temperature variation) and by using the same micrometer.
