i dont think AFR has anything to do with boost at all

saying 11.5AFR at 10psi means nothing

what if he using a stocker turbo? what if he using a gt42?

they both flow completely different amounts of airflow at 10psi

Well i've booked it into adam at JEM he's a top bloke and always looks after me in terms of price and always fixes everything up before he gets it off the dyno the only thing is that he doesn't really like the good old microtech's.

my car at the moment has an rb20 with the following mods

GT30 turbo .63 rear housing

apexi AVCR

Wallbro fuel pump

GTR injectors

3" zorst

100mm blitz front mount

cam gears

microtech lts12

tial 38mm wastegate

and i'm wanting to run it off 18-19psi

because the motor is untuched internally.

i got a tune in melbourne but shorted out the battery and lost it. And cause of my crap manifold design i was making 231rwkw but that was with boost set at 14psi creeping up to 18psi and that was making 18psi at 7100rpm!!!

so i'm putting the standard manifold back on and welding the wastegate on to it so i can reach 18psi straight off the bat with no creep.

any estimations on power??? by the way the red line is set up to 8400rpm

Cheers

anthony

i would be worried about the walbro pump

they have known baddies and tend to fall off in flow as well

make sure the fuel pressure is watched closely, so it doesnt lean out and go bang. doesnt the microtech save its tune in nvram?

Pretty sure it does. I often disconnected batteries on previous cars with microtech and had no drama's.

Make the effort to drive up to RX Engineering if you want a solid tune. I would. Then again, I have heard really good things about Dave Flood from Sydney.

Oh, if you find its just all too hard, I'll take the LT12 off ya hands if you want and you can go PowerFC. lol

To be honest i don't know what happened i know that the battery shorted out and then the car wouldn't idle and then i got some guy to come down and do a quick tune so i could drive it back to sydney but it was running way to rich he said he had to put in an extra 50% fuel to get it to idle then i think what ever the problem was it fixed itself up because i was only getting 210-220km for a full tank on the highway. The car was running very rich with black smoke and the plugs were fouling so i pulled out 40% of fuel and it drives much much better but i'm not sure on the AFR so i'm not hitting full boost till i get it tuned.

I don't mind the microtechs it's the tunners that don't like them.

and if your talking about dyno dave heared some pretty bad stories about him from a good friend of mind that took his car there.

Cheers

The stock pump will be fine for 260rwkw - they're $100 second hand, or if you have the old one lying around throw it back in :P

Or, go 044 :D

stock RB20 pump is no way good up to 260rwkw. well not if you want your engine to last. i would suggest a nismo pump. plenty of people like the bosch pumps but they require stuffing around to fit, and i do know of plenty of dead ones out there.

also, what type of injectors are you using? surely not stock ones!

It's not a GTR.

I actually only just noticed it was an RB20 so maybe my expectations above are a little high.

I don’t know about “has nothing to do”

Boost pressure behind the inlet valve would play it’s role, as it’s a measure of a combustible gaseous mixture that then has a proportional relation to peak cylinder pressure, a precursor to the exhaust temps you mention, with both of these being wot promotes detonation.

There’s no set AF / Boost though I would think there’s an optimum AF [stoch] then a) as much headroom u wanna add in case of wotever, bad fuel, hot day, good hook up, dieing f.pump and b) tweaking for times of extra requirement like peak torque or if the setup is prone to deto at higher RPM etc.

Requires ratios for your setup, is part of what you pay your tuner for.

    • I wouldn't be concerned at all, other than to suggest having them flow tested when you receive them to confirm they are reasonably similar, and then put the highest to lowest flowing ones in cylinder 6,1,5,2,4,3
    • I’m only posting this cause I thought I had seen a bad review on these somewhere before. Any feedback? Would you guys recommend that if I do buy these I send em to RC to have em checked before installing. Or any other suggestions?   https://www.ebay.com/itm/114009965865?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=JDl-15yLQ8C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=QTzlFXB1S-S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
