I had about a 50hp increase from just putting a RB25neo turbo and a fmic on my stock RB20..

For my RB25 i am getting a KKR480.. have a look here the KKR430 would work a treat on an RB20!

^^^1 bar will NOT get you there. nor will any other boost pressure. couple of mates have has this turbo on rb20s and the most either got was 205, other was 185. both after tuning. driven the one with 185, response is about the same as that of a turbo capable of 240rwkw... you'd think a 0.58 turbine A/R could achieve so much more...

orginal question:

ryan (1400R) is right, the td06-20g that he's selling (quite cheap too) will get you there. it also has the smallest exhaust housing and is quite a good match for the rb20.

another option is the gt2871r from garrett, but with the stock rb20/rb25 exhaust housing put on it so that it bolts up. horsepower in a box offers this.

these are the 2 options that i'm tossing up between (or was till i realised i dont have the money for support mods). both make similar power and similar response, with the garrett maybe a little bit better as its ballbearing

"or was till i realised i dont have the money for support mods"

what supporting mods you only need a fcd and a fuel pump

most should already have a larger fuel pump fitted so you only need a fcd $250 easy

remap it later when you've got some more cash together

Maybe...but there are plenty of RB20s blowing up.

But the ones with SAFCs, FCDs and off the net re-maps seem to blow up mire only makign 180-200rwkws. There are a few RB20s with 2530s making 210-220rwkws with Pfc, there are some RB20s running bigger Garrets etc making over 230rwkws reliably with management. Its not a perfect rule but i think its more then just a coincidence?

Just my thoughts, but why spend the money on a new turbo if you can afford to get the ECU to run it. Its only goign to give asmall increase in performance and cost you more in the long run.

Im all for doign things on a budget, but tune maketh the car.

FCD, that doesnt even change the ignition or the fueling does it> Doesnt it just stop the std ECU doign the fuel cut dance when it senses too much airflow?

yeah, i'd rather wait till i have all the money to do it properly, just in case.

want injectors, new pump (dunno if i want to trust a 16yr old gtr pump), and would want it tuned straight away

FCD as far as i know changes what the ecu 'sees', similar to SAFC

for rb20 may aswell just get the stock ecu remapped and tuned, does the job well

Remaps ftw... hehe

All i can say is less lag is important on a standard rb20! It won't run like an rb25 off-boost, or even an sr20 for that matter lol

14psi wont do much on an rb20 either, you really need 17++ psi plus alot of rpms to start to make any real decent power on MOST turbo's

The TD06 seems like a pretty good choice, i have the gcg hi-flow (from a r33 turbo) and its abit laggy really...

When it gets going its great like on the freeway etc, but waitin for it to spool up can be frustrating esp in low gears, 1st gear is nothing nothing then all hell breaks loose for half a second LOL
