Hey guys, im trying to diagonse a problem im having with my R34 GTT.

I just changed from lowered spring on KYB shocks, to a set of HKS Hypermax coilovers.

Got one problem tho, the wheel on the drivers side scrubs hardcore when turning !!! But the left one doesnt. The car is low, and ive never had this problem with lowered cars before, however comparing left and right wheels on flat surface, it appears as if the passanger side has more neg camber than the drivers side. Its only on the drivers side when cornering harder you notice the scrub noise. After inspection, it apprears to scrub on the outter gaurd arch

It didnt do this prior to the coilovers, however with coilovers in, it scrubs :P

Im frustrated, so can someone please shed some light would be appreciative :D

Will measure it up tomorrow  Im pretty sure they are equal , but ill measure it in the morning.

Im pretty sure its the camber that is making it scrub, as there is more negative on the passanger wheel, rather than the drivers side wheel, causing it to scrub, however i never really turned a corner on the passanger side yet, which i might try tomorro morning aswell

Sorry to dig up this VERY old thread but thought it'll be better than creating 1.

I'm sort of having the same problem (scrubbing on the driver's side front) but its in the front middle wheel arch. Because its scrubbing the front, I'm thinking it's the castor adjustment. The scrub is very obvious when doing a full lock right turn.

What would be the solution to this? If the other side doesnt scrub, doesnt that mean you can adjust the factory castor/camber settings to suit instead of doing more mods to make it suit? Who would be doing settings like this? Would a wheel alignment/balancing fix the issue?

For the information, the car is a 33gtr v-spec with Tein super street coilovers without any other suspension mods. The wheels are 18x9.5 +15 with 285/30/18 tyres.

i rkn your tyres are the problem 285 is freakin massive try a 265 which will be more than ample on 9.5" should be sweet.

do u know what its hitting exactly?

Too lazy to go out and take a photo but try imagining the driver's sider wheel instead of the passenger. On full lock right the circle part (middle back of inner guards) is where its scrubbing.

if it isn't scrubbing at the front adj castor rods will fix it.

if you have adj castor rods and still cant get rid of the scrubbing or it scrubs front & rear, you've fiddled with the height, your only other option is to go a smaller tyre, or wheel with less offset.

g/l..

Yea I know adjustable castor/rod or bushes will fix the issue but I'm hoping not to do any more mods to the car. We'll see how it goes as its not really that bad (only scrub when I full lock hard and road is uneven).

well we're pretty limited they hey.. if you dont want to do any further mods every piece of suspension on the front will have a a bee's dick's worth of adjustment between it and the next.. loosen each part and tighten it so its favouring not scrubbing.

its a similar case on gtrs with turbos between head-manifolds-turbos-dump pipes-front pipes

Negative reading on camber means the top of the wheel is leaning toward the center of the car (tilted in). The passenger side is more negative means it's leaning toward the center more. If the caster is even, then the car pull a little to the left, and you probably won't even feel it.

The caster settings usually responsible for pulls, car will pull to the side with less positive caster, but around 1/2 degree more positive on right is preferred to compensate the crown of the road.
