Hey all,

twas looking to go out and get a me a short shifter kit for my s1 r33 gtst recently but have now hit the problem of which one to purchase. Me being the naive person that i obviously am didn't expect to find that there would be such a huge range in price. ($100-$500)

Why is that? and i guess that would lead onto what should I be looking for (strengths and weaknesses) and i guess i mean in build quality becuase funtionallity seems to be pretty much the same for all (35-40% reduciton in throw) but i would probably be wanting a physical shortening of the stick too.

Please feel free to educate me

thanks heaps!

Cam

i got myself one of those cheap copy ones for $150. throw is firmer and shorter but it didnt come with the plastic bit at the bottom which i had to transfer from the original. its a loose fit so it rattles and the stick itself is solid ally and doesnt have the filler thingy to reduce noise transfer like i think the C's does so it transfers the gearbox noise into the cabin. sounds like a track car gearbox with teh wirring but not as bad. i actually dont mind the wirring but hate the rattling. if i were to do it again id spend abit more and get an original c's. as for the length its about 1.5 cm shorter as i just cut off the excess thread.

I had one... got rid of it.

Best thing i ever did... to be honest i hated it being short. You can only shift the box so fast.

Just my thoughts, they feel great if your driving a mates car, but eventually it wore off on me... and since a couple friends have done similar :D

I think short clutch and short shifts will help greatly if doing quater mile or 0-100km...after all we are really slow..

that "split" second it takes for the arm to shift and to step into gear could be reduced by about 20% if using C's and about 10% if using Nismo~~...

but end result not much of a difference ~~
