this is going to sound stupid, but is it a fuel problem? i had to fix a mates 180sx that had dropped number 2, i pulled the plugs out, taped up the coils and all that. it would spark when i grounded the plug and turned the car over (with another plug in the hole) but i couldn't get number 2 to fire. eventually i checked the injector plug on number 2 and it wasn't on properly. the moment i toughed in it went back into place and the car ran fine.

thats what i'm thinking...

i'm thinking it may be a failsafe - if an inj plug on #2 isnt connected properly and not pumping in fuel, then maybe its doing a sorta limp mode and cutting spark aswell...

but will know when i take loom out and clean all connections!

thanks for all the help, much appreciated, will post results once i've cleaned
