7 To 11 Test'n'tune Nov 2nd @ Willowbank

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone from SAU is going to the 7 to 11 test and tune tomorrow night?

I did have a few mates who were going but it appears they are now wearing skirts and don't want to go... Need to organise a bunch of people to cruise out with :(

Also wanting to know if there will be anyone who has a support crew who wouldn't mind looking after my spare tyre, tools etc when I'm racing

Cheers.

hi mate, pm sent, im interested in going, finally some nights off this week, havnt ran my car yet. ..

just find a security guard who would be happy to sit on the tyre and fall asleep on it for you.

Tried that one last time... Asked if I could leave my jerry can near the scrutineering desk and they basically said it may not be there when I got back... Luckily for me it was and I had enough fuel to get home

12 flat ???

Nah... seriously mid to high 13s would be good.

I've run a 14.1 @ 100 mph on a 2.3 second 60 foot... so if I can get my 60 foot times down, high 13s should be realistic.

... Mods are EBC, power FC, pod filter, high-flow cat, and catback exhaust... Everything else is stock (standard SMIC and standard turbo).

hey i dont know if this will help but last time i went out i took my stockos and changed from my 18s while i was there. i just left my 18's with the jack under a sheet i put in my car so not to dirty the seats and left them on the grass around other parked cars and people. I was worried first and kept checking up on them but i quickly relised they were fine. Although now ive posted this on the net it might be a different story, nobody get any ideas.... lol

Hey mate, I will definitley be out at Willowbank tomorrow night. But unfortunatley I am also without pit crew :)

I wish to go to, but now i have an issue with needing a helmet :). on such short notice i dont have a helmet to use..

You can buy the helmets pretty cheap. I have seen them at the motorcycle shop on the corner of Moss St. and the M1 service road starting at about $70 from memory. :)

lol , ended up using my 18"s for the job, just dropped the pressure to 26 psi. only went to 26 cause i still had to drive a fair while from the track on em.

Great meeting ya Chris. was a good night. my first time, ran a 13.93, not too bad i guess. just gotta work on my starts.

ps. shouldnt have jinx myself ;)

Good to meet you too Dale... Was a very good night (except for the oildowns!)

I ended up running 13.96 @ 100mph so I got the time I was after.

Were some impressive times last night:

'Easy St' R32 GTR ET: 10.9 seconds

Marty (STZ automotive) SR20 powered celica ET: 11.6 seconds

Alex (GT Auto garage) R33 GTR ET: 12.0 @ 127 mph! (was definately bogging down off the line and falling off boost + struggling for traction on boost) - looking forward to seeing some low 10 second passes soon!

    • Sell it and buy something newer? 😛
    • Better then PooPooG... or is it PeePeeG?
    • The steering wheel on my 97 s3 gtr is a little bit worn out, so im on the hunt for something mint. I notice that this type of steering wheel is on several other nissan's of the era.  Does anyone know if their all identical, or are there slight differences? I feel like gtr tax applies to anyone selling one, but if it comes from any other car the price is much less, even though its the same design.  Chat gpt says the material for the gtr is slightly different and it says gtr on the wheel, but every pic ive seen it just says nissan.
    • I might have to say it.
    • Ahh... it's an early RE5R01A box, that means the pinouts I gave are wrong (they were for the RE4R01A 4-speed box)... I'll have to dig around in my docs to see if I've got that schematic (they used the same gearbox plug, with the vacant pin wired to the direct drive clutch solenoid)...prolly hidden away in a supplement somewhere... ...there were 3 variants of the RE5R01A ~ this early schema was what we called the 'dumb' 5 speed ; it's what jatco called a 'medium duty' box, with torque holding up roughly ~200ft/lbs or so, which was good for NA from RB20/25DE and up to around VG30 output spec. With the RB25DET (and VG33/35 mills), the only options they had was the 4-speed 4AX00 box, which had been beefed up to handle the extra torque (primarily for the VG35, but it also suited the RB25DET mill and others)...and the RE4R03 box in large 4WDs a lot of the time... ...the next variant of 5-speed was redesigned, stronger, and 'smart'...first ones had external TCU with internal (on valvebody) Shift Control Unit, pressure switches, and 2 x TSS...and the last ones had internal TCU+SCU setup, with CANbus control etc etc. @DRoc81 On the RHS of the box towards the rear, there should be a stamped silver ID tag -- what's the model number? Oh...and with the early 5-speeds, the torque converter control solenoid assembly should be replaced as well (31940-60X00)...it's a bit Murphy's Law ....if one has failed, bet on the rest not being far behind ...
