Air Conditioning Re-gas

GTST R33

I've been looking @ getting my air conditioning regassed, the car is s1 r33 gtst

the air cond. currently works, just takes a little longer than it should to get cold.

I've heard that it may just need a top up? or regas which apparently should be done

every two years?? They also recommend changing the filter too.

I don't know whats involved, but if it already works, i was told to allow $250 for regas

This sounds over the top??

Has anyone has a basic regas and would be able to advise on price

and maybe recommend a place in Adelaide to get this done.... Cheers :)

I got my air re gassed not long ago, they had to change the fittings which was baisically screwing an adaptor on the original fitting which they charged an extra $60 for (saw me coming) and the total bill was 150, this was in tas tho.

i had mine done 2 weeks ago (trying to avoid the summer rush) :) cost me $150, however i opted for a coloured dye (cost that little extra) which is handy for future to find a leak.

on my drive home barefoot, my clutch foot went numb! like seriously cold - put a digital thermometer in the footwell and it was 9ºC!!!!

so if my aircon is fairly cool, but not freeezing cold, will a re-gas correct this?

and what's the deal with the filter? i'm not familiar it.

Yeah id try topping it up first, thats what i plan to do with my aircon.

And the filter, i know in quite a few airbox's they put an airfilter inside to trap dust and leaves and all that crap, could be something like that. Or it could be a filter somewhere in the lines or condenser or evaporator.... not sure where though, and what it would do since the ac is really a sealed system.

no - just a regas.

however i do have to go see him within the next few weeks so he can check if its leaking - said that if its leaking he'll change over the entire canister with fittings for free, if not just leave it.
