Hey guys

does anyone know if there is an advantage of wrapping the intercooler pipe that runs over the radiator/fan with heat wrap to try keep the heat down as it seems to get quite hot.

Has anyone done it with better results?

Let me know

Cheers M

I did, in my old 33gtst. Works the treat, do it, temputure drop at least 10 degrees.

Yeah, you can even tell the difference by hand. After a bit of spirited run, feel the temp of the pipe straight out of the intercooler and then the return pipe near the cam gear cover....big difference.

Just go to an exhaust place and get some of the insulating fabric they put around headers, isn't too unsightly and works well

the air moves to quick through the piping to heat up

oh really its just seems quite hot when i touch it thats all, mind u i guess it does kinda move quick. Never thought of that. Thanks paul

yeah it will be hot to touch for sure, blow air over it at few hundred km/h and it won't heat up at all. when its mashed through your IC core the contact surface is much much much larger so it has a chance to extract the heat from the intake charge, but when its in the pipe work its just wooshing past and wont heat up much. id be suprised if someone could measure in and out temps before and after wrapping the pipes and showing a difference
