I have the opportunity to swap my mint S2 97' GTST with 60K on the clock for a 96 S1 Stagea with 70K on it (Pranks car). I am depely considering this however I am unsure at the moment as I dont know a whole lot about reliability and potential.

Can anyone enlighten me?

If anyone is keen to swap PM me - I am after 18-19k for my GTS as it is in mint condition.

Have you taken it for a spin yet? I know I am doing everything I can to not sell mine, because I just freakin love it, but unless I win a house or lotto, I will have to sell it :D

I havent driven anything like driving my stagea!

I would take the car for a spin to have a feel of how it drives and possibly identify potential problems...and maybe take it to a reputable mechanic to look the car over...check cylinder pressure...turbo shaft play...etc etc....and maybe Prank should do the same on your car...when ur both satisfied...then i guess its a matter of 2 consenting adults reaching an agreement :)

In NZ that isnt really a fair deal as s1 stageas routinely go for 7-11k. While a mint 97 25T will go for 12-15.

Haha, but NZ doesn't have any car manufacturers that whinge to the government so they put legislation in place to make high quality (second hand) Japanese imports jump through hoops and add a heap of cost to getting the car on the road... Like we do. What are the NZ costs? FOB plus shipping??? That is what makes cars cheaper there... If only it wasn't so cold and small. Actually I would move there in a heart beat but family is all here.

Cheers

Luke

Get a stagea?

SHIT YEAH

Are they slow? Stock, yes

Are they heavy? Yes

Do they drink fuel? Yes

But you know what, you will love that car so SO much after 1 month that none of that will matter. Splash a little cash and it becomes the ONLY car you'll ever want.

Ask anyone here, we all LOVE them.

There's one thing I've discovered after a year of ownership of a Stagea: puck-clutches (or button-clutches, or whatever you wanna call them) SUCK! That's the only thing I really don't like about my car.

So yeah, you SHOULD buy one! But we've all already told you that... ;)

If you like the look of the stagea then you're 90% of the way to buying one.

Quite simply its the practicality of a wagon combined with sporty looks and awesome performance potential and awd safety and traction and a thousand other things...I could keep going...

There are so many reasons to buy one. In my opinion the stagea caters for people who want a skyline but need more space than a skyline allows. But in some ways I would still choose a stagea over a skyline even when space isn't an issue. I think the stagea interior is nicer, and they have AWD, plus I think its cool to have a nice sporty wagon with enough grunt (with some mods) to toast your average v8. (generalising i know...)

You can have convenience AND performance in the one car.

The ride isn't perfect but I think you'll find that for the money it is THE best handling and best performing wagon around.

I've got a series 2. After a few mods it now has 150awkw and I love driving it. Best car I ever owned. :P

Just a tip - if you happen to buy an auto and find that you cant reasonably afford a manual conversion - then DO get an shift kit (valve body upgrade) fitted to the auto box. As long as the shift harshness isn't overboard it can really improve shift quality and isn't rough to drive at all. And with tiptronic (which I have) its probably quicker changing gears than a manual (by the time you move your foot to the clutch etc..) - still not the same as a manual but like I said, if a manual becomes out of your reach...the auto can still be fun :)

And some figures, a few thousand dollars extra should give you around the same power as I have. 0-100km/h should be possible in under 7s (not sure exactly) and driving in adelaide in mostly peak hour traffic I average 12.5L/100km.

So then, let us know when u buy yours - and dont forget to post pics
