Event Info:

This day is our official Show N Shine event for the year and will serve as our official Christmas Party for the end of the year.

Last year we ran this event much like a Show N Shine, which is similar to an outdoors Autosalon style day.

Members are free to pur their cars on display and are encouraged to enter them for the Show N Shine.

Only SAU VIC Members will be able to participate in having their car entered into the Show N Shine display.

This event will be advertised to non VIC members to encourage them to come along for a fun and glamours day of sun, cars and people.

Our partner car club WRX will also be invited to come and check out the day and enjoy our cars.

We will also try to gauge some media interest for this event and have our usual talent of photographers onsite for the day.

How To Enter:

Upon entry onto the grounds you will be greeted by one of our Committee members and given directions.

If you wish to have your car in the Show N Shine and be eligible for voting you must notify our team.

You will be given a "Vote for me" sheet to place on your car with your details upon notification.

Prizes and Awards:

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

  • Godzilla class (32, 33, 34 GT-R)
  • Godzuki class (32, 33, 34 GTS/GTT)
  • WRC class (WRX, Evo)
  • Dorifto class (Silvia platform)
  • Intruder class (other)

Use of recreational facilities:

The City of Melbourne council have kindly offered us the use of Birrarung Mar for our Show n Shine day.

There are strict guidelines and procedures that must be followed for the club to be given permission to use this location.

As you can see by the location we will be on display to the general public and those out and about on the Sunday.

I also expect we will see a representative or two checking up on things throughout the day to ensure the guidelines are followed.

This means the day must be strictly under direct supervision to ensure we don't break any rules.

The following must be adhered to by all Members attending the day

  • Strictly walking pace for cars along the red marked track.
  • No loud engine revving or compressor nuisance noises.
  • No unwanted behaviour on (or when leaving) the parks grounds.
  • No dumping of rubbish.
  • No driving outside the marked areas in red.

Other: Please note we will have voting boxes open for the end of year SAU VIC awards.

This will be your last chance to cast your vote. You can see the awards and how to vote here

You can post up your interest here and questions you may have.

:)

Just too...

This is a massive coup in getting access to the Birrarung Marr park. No other car club has EVER exhibited here before, so we are very exclusive :ninja:

Will be lots of exposure too - so should be a great day.

So I just show up on the day to put my car on show?

Yes that is correct. Our officials will give you a quick model and member name sheet to fill out which will have your real name, member name on the forums, and car category. This will then be placed on your windscreen in the corner so everyone who wants to vote for your car knows who's car it is and what name to vote for.

Bah - even with a trophy for best red 4-door sedan... I got you beat :)

I'll put your trolley in my boot and there will be no EVO to vote for...

I was hoping for best super taxi, and you can have best shopping trolley, deal?

    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
