a 3rd party property insurance policy also counts towards your rating, you dont have to get comprehensive

i had 3rd party fire and theft on my sprinter when i had it, through Vigil, and also on my Ford Sierra through Just cars for about 1 1/2 years (which i had after the sprinter, so about 3 years of insurance all up) yet Just cars wouldn't honour that when i signed up for my skyline, they made me start back at the lowest rating.

i just swapped to Shannons, and they honoured that 3rd party F&T and put me on a rating 2, so that's not too bad.

ok then then what sort of small car should i get?

and being young and stupid id like something with a decent engine alot of mates etc will be getting commodores and falcons etc myself was also looking into a commodore ute

but if you reckomend a small car i would like something that would be as fast as around a vt commodore

(something that probably isnt a wise desiscion)

already been said... N14 Nissan Pulsar Q or Ti (they're basically the same as the SSS).... should easily keep up with a commo, and you can pick them up for around 4 - 5k...

there are other options, but they're probably one of the better 'bang for your buck' cars out there

either that or do as Col said and get a R31 or something

toyota cressida mx83- they're a really nice cruiser, much better built than a pulsar or a commodore, lots of car for not much money but make sure you get a good one as their engines (same as the supra) had headgasket problems.

hmn i checked both out the toyota seeing around 142-152 or something kw

the nissan seening around 102kw but then i guess you could swap to a sr20det-but now i guess would be hard to find and insurance would be a nightmare or could get a GTi-R model already with a sr20det

And what, take the turbo off?

I'm in two minds about this thread...

I am 23 and had a vk commo when I was 17 till 19, got an R32 with RB25DE till 3 months ago, now have R34 turbo. I have $0... but ever since I had the R32 I just loved to drive the car. Every time I got in it was just a pleasure to drive... Obviously the 34 is even better to drive... ;)

I still don't know whether I would have gone the cheaper way around like some have. Although it is a very good idea... You may still be able to get an R34 turbo when your 25 or whatever, the difference is you may then have the money to put all the mods you want on...

Lastly, you only have 4 points on your P's, so if you want a car fast enough to keep up with your mates commo's etc... it will only take 1 sting at 20k over to make you lose your license... it will push your 3yr P plate adventure push out to 4 years +.

hmn i see but i dont really intend on speeding on the roads its just id like to be able to brag about it and could maybe settle it out on the drag strip if i really needed to but i deff dontwant to loose my licence

What's stopping you from buying the car you want now and registering it in your name. That way you'll already own it when the laws come in. doesn't the new laws only effect people who don't already have the car when the rule comes into effect?

Other than that....take Daves advice...he is correct.

DO IT!!!

Settle it on the drag strip? You want to buy the biggest HP car that you can under the law then settle it on the drag strip? Please... No one is going to take an NA 32 / 33 to the strip to challenge a stock commo...

When I was 19 or 20, whatever it was, it was going to cost $1900 to get full comp on my NA 32. Got 300 to 350k to the tank, which will cost you about $55 (at current prices) and up to $70 (if it inflates again) to fill. And when your young, that will last a week or less i rekon.

2 options. Get the NA Skyline if you dont care how much it will cost just because it is still a dream to drive. Yes, every commo and even a lot of imports will line you up and then waste you...

or Get the cheap car, tell ya mates they gay and they bought a commo because they have a small penis (just cause thats fun to say to your mates). Then you can rape them sideways at the strip when you finally have your worked 34.

Even better, with the money you save, you may even be able to get the 34 earlier and start working it / taking it to the strip before its legal to drive on the road. But thats just some more money wasting...

...

Trick here is your Ps points get refreshed every year x3 year = 12 points in 3 years.

Your opens points only get refreshed every 3 years = 12 points 3 years.

You are going to drive fast in no matter what you get. Its that simple. Just the sports car your more likely to, and faster, and feel more confident going fast.

Dans plan is good, but I still think your going to get picked on. Cops will see skyline, Ps, instantly think its turbo knowing very well you cant have it. They will pull you over, start searching get pissed off they cant find anything, not even a turbo, so they will keep looking to find something small, say wiper rubber too hard, gearknob or something.

Thinking a bit more $8k might even get you an echo or something, bit safer airbag etc. I mean your more likely to die in those first 3-5 years of driving...

Sorry to go on about this, but I know what I did, and what some others have done, and worked out what I should have done. Which wasnt what I did do...

I understand that, however when I got my commo i got done 20k over once, 3 points, and had to spend a year till they came back on 1 point... Then later when I had my 32, I got done for 13k over, which is now the new start of the 3 points (big difference). It is not hard at all to do 13k over in any car, but like you said, you will be more likely to do it in a skyline...

We have all been like you and wanted the best car straight up, but what you do now will make more of a difference in the future that what you think. Or even if you know that, I know it is hard to see the forest through the trees. I lost my license 3 months before i got my opens and they added an extra 11 months to my P's...

Dave
