I was driving home this arvo when suddenly the hicas light came on, steering went heavy and speedo and odometer stopped working. Looking through old posts on this website on the matter it seems that the speedo cable is broken and if i replace this the speedo will work again, same with the odometer and the hicas will also be fixed. Could i just geta quick yes or no as to wether fixing the speedo cable will fix the hicas/power steering problem as well.

i have similar problem i have a r33 gts-t my rev meter dies and hicas light comes on at the same time and comes back on again, ive pulled my cluster out and gave it a good clean pulled all the plugs out and put them back in, the problem is still there. Theres no modification done to the hicas and i dont have any after market tachos. I think the best place to pin point the problem will be auto electrician

yes fixing the speedo will fix the sterring

hicas is proportional to the speed you are travelling, if it doesnt know how fast your going, it turns off the power steering. (or drops to minimal assist)

Thankyou muchly for that craved...very happy to hear that.

Just one more q'n, is there any chance that it is a blown fuse that has caused speedo/odometer to stop or can it only be the speedo cable?

Thanks again!

happened to me once in my r32, pulled the speedo outa box and pulled on it. the cable didnt pull through ( not broken) i then mooved onto the cluster, when i pulled that out the lil pinion for the speedo into the cluster had poped out, put it back in and bang it all worked again. havnt had any troubles since.
