On my 32 gtst this light keeps commin on (see pic below) the owners manual doesnt say what it is, just names it 'Exhaust Gas Temperature Warning Light' and says if it continues to stay on contact a nissan service dealer! Obviously it has something to do with the tempertaure of the exhaust, just wondering if anyone knew anything about it? I have stcok exhuast! Any help would be great!!!

Cheers,

Maybe there's something wrong with your catalytic converter?

Or the sensor isnt even plugged in?

(the sensor will be plugged in to a spot halfway along the exhaust)

Maybe get under there and have a look :pirate:

From my knowledge your O2 sensors are only on the dump pipes. Could be a third. That light does work in conjunction with the diagnotics LED on the side of the ECU so could be something to do with that. Altho it usually flashes when your in diagnostics..

The manual has answered your question. (when I went to school, "naming" something and "saying what it is" were synonymous).

It is a warning light. It means something is wrong. It even recommends what you should do - see your local Nissan dealer.

It comes about when the temperature of the exhaust gasses passing through the catalytic converter (nothing at all to do with O2 limits and closed loop operation!) reaches a certain limit (measured by a thermocouple in the converter's body). It is possible that the engine is beginning to run too lean (maybe due to dying fuel pump), or maybe the cat is collapsing and blocking the exhaust.

Go see a Nissan dealer and get it sussed out.

Do you have a Power FC?

Theres an option in the Power FC commander that has been turned on/off (I can't read Japanese) so it thinks there a problem-o.

No real conclusion when I had it, so I forgot which option it was

was just thinkin and i did make an adjustment to my idle over the weekend and did do some fine adjusting on the idle screw on the side of the ecu! Dont know much about ECU diagnostics but isnt the first mode an exhaust tempertaure mode or somethign like that? Does anybody have any knowledge in regards to that?
