im sure this guy doesnt want to be lectured, he either already knows all of what our telling him and a)doesnt care or b) is taking it into considereation, or he doesnt want to hear it and is going to thrash it anyways, so its futile either way :)

better off wishing him luck and telling him to enjoy his car responsibly!

I just hope his mummy smacked his bot bot.

GTR's don't 'scare' people on a high (e.g. new owners). You get used to the power real quick. You can't enjoy a GTR on the roads. Giving it a bit of stick every now and then is all you can do, but thats nothing compared to The Drags or The Track.

And remember kids, if you only have 1 hand on the wheel, the other one better be on your nuts as you head for that tree/kerb

Seriously though, its curb ...... c u r b

too true, if you give a GTR a bit your gunna be flying, which isnt gunna happen on the street haha

I gotta agree... fresh into my GTR I was very ambitious around a fast corner and it could have turned bad... thank god I did a rally course years ago and am over the whole panic attack thing. They just dont handle like a 4x4 or a rear wheel drive... they are something else again and you gota ease your way into it before you ease yourself into another car/person/tree...either one of those 3 aint good news

hahaha all good ffor the bad qaulity pics man... i guess we can wait untill it hits front page in the papers 17 yr old wraps gtr round pole..... those pics shud b better quality.... ill wait till then... wont b too long..

dude no need for that....

stop pretending to predict and own up that you want me to crash.

Thanks for everyones support - excluding the tards ^^

WTB R33 GTR

 LOL!

HEY SNATCH.. heard you hit pulled a gutter job already!!! hahahahhaa.. now i guess it back fired!...

TIP: dont b a dumb f**k*

AHG...sooner rather than later.

If you mean the defensive driving coarse (the one where you take you car), its not going to help in his super fun happy sliders moments. They teach wet weather breaking, swerving and a few steering techniques to get you out of trouble. You have to do the higher levels in the AHG skidpan car for them to show you how to correct over/under steer.

Skid pan days (maybe not with instructors) are a regular thing there IIRC. Even Mr kleets had an off at the skid pan in his GTR

It was no big deal cause it was all grass either side. No damage and no curbs (besides the damage to Mr kleets ego :spank:)

Thanks, ive been reading all of your responses seriously.

To clear it up, it was wet, i never had gone around a corner before and wanted the car to dance (when the back does a little snake), so i gave a little... the bad thing was i didnt know how the V-specs operate (ATESSA) but only found out after that they can change into RWD when turning so thats what happened and yea.

The people behind me said it looked awesome lol

At least ive learned from my mistake and now I know my car alot better.

Getting into that situation is stupid, but getting out of it makes me a better driver, i think.

p.s I HAVE DONE THE f**kING AHG COURSEEEE

More info on these non-instructed skidpan days.. :ninja:

Yeah ive been asking around, apparently it was designed so that the harder you turn it would automatically change to RWD or change the ratios....causing understeer.

I think it was originally designed for drifting? I think....i could be wrong.

It's predominantly RWD and only engages the front in it's efforts to maintain traction after you mash the pedal. I guess in time you will learn the nuances of your car and be able to predict what it will do.

I'm getting there.. coming from driving a RWD rear engined car and a FWD sh!tbox to a turbo RWD with a very light rear end, it's a little isconcerting but a lot of fun! the only thing I really don't like is the HICAS crap which I will be getting rid of soon enough, and maybe the speed sensitive steering.. too light when sideways at low speeds :pirate:

The gtrs have amazing exit speed from corners. The hicas (4 wheel steer) causes some of the strange feedback from the car and the attessa has it's own sensation to get used to. The main issue being you usually go ithrough the corner thinking 'understeer ! understeer ! back off the power!' when you need to feed the power in at the right moment.

There are I think a few guys involved with driver training courses that run about in GTRs that would be worth throwing a few dollars at to get the most out of it with the least experimental risk. Ken from Hyperdrive, is one guy worth a chat to, not sure if he is still doing the driver training thing tho'.

Errr no...there is plenty of info on this forum to explain the GTR's awd system and I'd suggest you read up on it (do a search).

Basically your car is rwd and only sends drive to the front wheels when the rears slip. The only difference between the std GTR and the vspec one is that the vspec awd computer does its calculations faster. On a side note I'd check that your car is in fact a vspec as there is a lot of badge engineering out there in regard to this.

The unsettling feeling you are getting around the corner (aside from you mashing the loud pedal at the wrong time) is the hicas (4 wheel steer) system trying to correct your over-enthusiastic driving by turning the rear wheels. Once you have a little more experience in the car I recommend you disconnect this hicas system to make the car more predictable at the limit.

And lastly that comment about 'drifting' couldn't be more wrong....the GTR was designed for GRIP not drift so if you are after a drifter you have bought the wrong car.

Cheers.

umm... im bit confused can you try and clean something up!

all gtr have the attesa system, so i dont know what you mean by v-speces operate :pirate:

because its good to know about your car i found this for you

ATTESA E-TS

ATTESA E-TS is the advanced electronic version of Nissan's ATTESA Drivetrain. It is an acronym for Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All - Electronic Torque Split. The newer version of ATTESA E-TS is called ATTESA E-TS Pro.

The ATTESA E-TS layout is more advanced than the ATTESA system, and uses a 16bit microprocessor that monitors the cars movements at 100 times per second to sense traction loss. Three G-Sensors mounted underneath the centre console feed lateral and longtitudinal inputs into an ECU. The ECU can then direct up to and including 50% of the power to the front wheels. When slip is detected on a wheel, the system directs the torque away from that wheel to one that has traction. Torque is apportioned using a clutch pack center differential, similar to the type employed in the Steyr-Daimler-Puch system in the Porsche 959. This series of clutch packs is contained within the 'transfer case,' which is mounted to the rear of the gearbox.

Rather than locking the AWD in all the time or having a system that is "all or nothing", the ATTESA E-TS system can apportion different ratios of torque to different wheels as it sees fit. This provides the driver with an AWD vehicle that performs like a rear wheel drive vehicle in perfect conditions and can recover control when conditions aren't as perfect

When people say do ahg driving course, i would say they are talking about the ones where you take ur GTR and drive that. (i think they are called skidpad days SAUWA just had one).

ALSO If you want to have more control over the AWD SYSTEM go out and buy one of these

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...1&hl=ATESSA

(this is just an example of one type of system but there are many aviable)

Cheers Michael

also,

untill you have been driving the GTR for abit, i Suggest you dont try doing anything in the wet. you will soon learn even with a gtr that the car can become very unpredicatable if you dont know what you are doing.

also dont take my comments being that you are a shit driver, you are just inexperiance in a turbo car, and with time you will better understand your car and how to drive it

Cheers Michael

I was nearly right! lol

So Non-Vspec GTRs have ATTESA and V-Specs have ATTESA-PRO...

The HICAS was disconnected upon purchase.

    • Update: I got the magnet out. I bought 3 different flexible magnetic reach tools, but none of them worked. The magnet on the tip was all less than 2lbs of force, so i had to buy a special cylindrical magnet that had a pull force of 9lbs.  The magnet finally came in the mail yesterday, so i got under the car to get to work. The super strong magnet isn't that long, so i only have about 1 finger pinch lengths to hold it. I was so scared when i was going in the hole, that the 9lb magnet would just fly away inside the oil pan never to be seen again, but i had my butt cheeks clenched and finger gripped on that thing so tight, i managed to get it to suck the other magnet out.  It was a victory for me last night.
    • Yep, pretty much what you said is a good summary. The aftermarket thing just attached to the rim, then has two lines out to valve stems, one to inner wheel, one to outer wheel. Some of the systems even start to air up as you head towards highway speed. IE, you're in the logging tracks, then as speeds increase it knows you're on tarmac and airs up so the driver doesn't even have to remember. I bet the ones that need driver intervention to air up end up seeing a lot more tyre wear from "forest pressures" in use on the highway!
    • Yes, but you need to do these type certifications for tuning parts. That is the absurd part here. Meaning tuning parts are very costly (generally speaking) as well as the technical test documentation for say a turbo swap with more power. It just makes modifying everything crazy expensive and complicated. That bracket has been lost in translation many years ago I assume, it was not there.
    • Hahaha, yeah.... not what you'd call a tamper-proof design.... but yes, with the truck setup, the lines are always connected, but typically they sit just inside the plane of the rear metal mudguards, so if you clear the guards you clear the lines as well. Not rogue 4WD tracks with tree branches and bushes everywhere, ready to hook-up an air hose. You can do it externally like a mod, but dedicated setups air-pressurize the undriven hubs, and on driven axles you can do the same thing, or pressurize the axles (lots of designs out there for this idea)... https://www.trtaustralia.com.au/traction-air-cti-system/  for example.... ..the trouble I've got here... wrt the bimmer ad... is the last bit...they don't want to show it spinning, do they.... give all the illusion that things are moving...but no...and what the hell tyre profile is that?...25??? ...far kernel, rims would be dead inside 10klms on most roads around here.... 😃
    • You're just describing how type certification works. Personally I would be shocked to discover that catalytic converter is not in the stock mounting position. Is there a bracket on the transfer case holding the catalytic converter and front pipe together? If so, it should be in stock position.
