dont listen to some of these guys man.....if ur after a nice set of good lookn rims....and not to shave off .85 seconds off ur drag time....just get wat u want.....

and about wheels buckling and stuff....just dont smash....end of story

Given the amount of completely ignorant shit you spew all over these forums (omg rexies run 1bar factory yo!!~!`1!one) better advice would be to read your posts, and then do the opposite.

The rim cracking on that yellow R33 posted before - does it look like he smashed into something at the time the spokes snapped clean off the hub? Its come off the road, but as it hasn't dug in to the dirt its not like its put a massive lateral load onto the rim. With the lower grip afforded by dirt, chances are there's less than on the hard top.

Yet, even when the evidence is right in front of you, you still manage to say stupid shit.

And that doesn't necessarily need to be under the rigours of track abuse. I've seen cheap rims buckle or shatter after hitting potholes, and good luck avoiding them in Sydney.

If you're going around driving Miss Daisy and you're not planning on opening it up around the corners, feel free to buy whatever wheels of whatever quality you want. But if you're going to drive like that, buy a Paseo or Hyundai Coupe. You don't need a Skyline.

Agreed. cheap wheels are for cheap cars. If you drive a turbocharged import you need good quality wheels

i feel for this dude-

all he wants is a pic of a 32 with some dishy black-spoked wheels, and we've hijacked the mofo's thread

anyway- tried to find something on google image search for ya, but no luck, soz :P

Sorry no pic, but I'm just amazed at what crowd (ricers) the Skyline attracts these days.

This is what happens when your car becomes a hero car in movies and in computer games. They're so used to virtual reality that they're a little disconnected from actual reality.

When a car becomes famous for things other than its ability to be driven, it becomes popular among who have skillsets other than an ability to drive.

If you have a look at the most vocal of the people you're referring to, they probably wouldn't know Bathurst from Ballarat, and they're more likely to be able to draw you an outline of Trial Mountain than Mount Panorama.

Kind of sad really. :D

You're right... but who can blame the guy for being ignorant and not realising that the wheels are dangerous for use on high powered cars. All he wants is to buy a good looking set of rims for the cheapest possible.

People do this kind of stuff every day until they've had the reasons for not buying cheap shit explained to them... Thats fair enough IMO.

anyway... back on topic..

ok, from my private supply:

Niiice... that 350GT looks awesome!

you guys are crazy. if the guy wants to put nice lookn rims on car whats the problem? good on ya for calling him ignorant if he wants to make his car look nice. i dont know how many times ive said this but id much rather a good lookn car then some shat box dats runnin 500rwkws. and those 500rwkws are pretty useful according to all the angels and saints up here in SAU that say they NEVER abuse that. ahhahahha yer right...

i cant believe wat we come down to is talkin smack about a guy trying to make his car look nice......

and about that stupid yellow r33 who lost its wheels. yeh i wonder if that car has been in constent abuse for going side ways or wat ever. i wonder if it has even touched street roads. i highly doubt that a car driving normally and carefully would have that ever happen....even pot holes.....if ur careful......obviously if ur going 180 smack into a hole ud expect some damage. honestly i think its stupid to spend 3-5k on wheels that are garenteed screw up proof. id settle for 1-3k wheels and not be a total idiot trashing my car. but again thats jsut me.....but at least i wouldnt talk shat about ppl who do

Okay, that was a bit of a tangent. Obviously you've got some anger about something unrelated to this thread.. :D

Who said that this guy is not allowed to buy the wheels he wants? People are giving mainly constructive advice here, and it's for good reason! Cheap Chinese shit breaks a lot easier than name brand Jap stuff - FACT!! Wheels are kind of important to keep a vehicle moving!! Snapping a wheel mid-corner can lead to huge accidents and possibly death!!

The only reason that people are saying this is because its in his best interest to know the pitfalls of fitting cheap crap onto performance cars!

 You're clueless dude... How many track only cars have got a Veilside body kit, Full interior, and NSW rego? It's obviously a road car..

This forum is a great place for people to be able to learn from other people's mistakes. It's up to the person reading it to make their decision. Obviously you know much more than the people who have witnessed it first hand to be able to make those ^ sort of recommendations to other people...

ouch! looks like even the same type of rim as that yellow r33 ?

buying from ebay is especially dodgy, as there is no, or next to no warranty, and often the wheels don't even get the proper checks that a major wheel retailer would do (you'd hope)..

I can bet your bottom dollar, if a rim separated like that, is the retailer going to give a shit? god yes.. and you would have good grounds to sue their pants off for selling something obviously dangerous - even if your insurance didn't come through.

Is an ebay seller? probably won't be there next week. Your insurance will probably say "structural problem" and refuse to cover you, and there would be no recourse against the manufacturer.. so where does that leave you? bent over severely..

The one phrase i havent seen on this thread is "fit for purpose". I saw a Dutton on Fox a few weeks ago and some cat in an Audi TT had a country bridge closed because the centre of his chromed alloy wheel parted ways with the rest off the wheel, yes it was in a similar vane as the yellow 33.

If your going to be bouncing off ripple strips and running decent MPH i would suggest a set of forged wheels..both for weight and safety. Price wise you could get a set of R33 GT-R wheels cheapish or drop some major coin on some Volks ect. But thats not what your post is about, get what ever turns your crank just remember it should be "fit for purpose"

Hate to add to the non topic related responses but here is my 2c:

If you have a budget, and that is most of us, save on the rims, spend big on tyres! Chances are you'll find yourself in all sorts of unfavourable situations with expensive jap quality rims wrapped with crappy tyres.

Always spend as much as you can afford on tyres, they'll save your life!

Everyone talks about $2500 Work rims, but factor in the costs of proper tyres, and your looking at almost $4000. If you can afford this, then go cheaper on the rim, spend more on the tyre.

PS: the yellow car with the snapped off rim, that rim just looks like a completely crap design, thin spokes, not enough support near the hub. Probably not the best choice for a china copy. Perhaps if it was a little beefier, and was a china copy, it wouldn't have happened.
