hey all.. this is in ref to a CA18DET but its only really general info I need.

ok we're at the point of removing the crankshaft sprocket & backing plate to replace a seal.. as seen here tho it's not my engine..

Using a screwdriver, wd40 etc and trying to lever it off but it's just NOT coming off & Mic's about to pop a vein or something.. rusted on perhaps? I don't know.. Need ideas :)

(yes it's lined up with the notch thingy/tooth in the middle)

[oil seals are sorted]

Any advice/ideas appreciated.

Was hoping to put the head back on today :)

Thanks guys!!

OK still need help here.. tho the oil seals are sorted now.

Used a blow torch but the crankshaft sprocket is still on there, barely moved. Last option atm is to drill it and crack it off unless someone has a better suggestion!

Where are all the wonderful people who normally know more than me?! I am a girl you know and at least I've come up with some ideas!

More heat is the easiest solution, but there's a seal for the oil pump behind the sprocket and it would be a very good idea (IMHO mandatory) to replace the seal after applying heat to the area. Also that thin plate you can see behind the sprocket is a guide for the cam belt....try not to damage it and also try not to use the oil pump housing as a levering point.

If heat doesn't work, cutting slots in the sprocket with an angle driver then using a cold chisel to split it is a last resort. Make sure you can get a replacement before destroying it first tho. In a couple of cases I've drilled and tapped holes in the sprocket then used a home-made puller to get it off, but that can only normally be done with the engine out, unless you have access to an air drill.

Good Luck
