Yeah..

The RB20DE was used as a company car engine..

if its power you want.. you dont want an RB20DE..

Even my 25DE struggles a fair bit..

it is a GTS4 AND 4door.. so ~1400kg

Okay.

My Supra held dead level, with a R34 GTT (Auto in both)

Later on, I got my rear end handed to me by a V8 VN with an exhaust.

Basically, the R32 would most likley be beaten down like my Supra against a V8 in the VN.

Now against the V6, on the roll, I just start to loose out.

So I'd be hazarding a guess, that the R32 would loose out too (BTW, my Supra IS twin turbo)

Dude, a 2JZ-GTE being beaten by a 5ltr VN?

That doesn't sound right to me :s

An NA Skyline should beat your average AU falcon or commodore(note:SHOULD) as they aren't very quick. At the drags tonight a stock AU falcon was running consistent flat 17's, however a stock EL automatic was running mid 15's the whole night with absolutely no mods. A mates VR commodore with full exhuast, extractors, V8 throttle body, bellmouth removed and shift kit ran 15.7 on his best run. Its the VN/VP commo's and EF/EL falcons that will spank an NA liner quite easily.

i'm guessing that there was something wrong with the AU (like probably done 300,000kms and getting a bit tired). i've driven quite a few of the aussie tanks and i can tell you than an AU will beat a VN or an EF. it won't be by much, but they are faster, and they sure as hell aren't a second slower.

I dunno Marco, I've driven an AU aswell and they feel faster than the old dogs but I think it might be the extra torque that gives it that feel. They are pretty slow off the line cause they are heavy bastards. The VR and EL were much lighter and launched a bit quicker IMO.

was the au auto or manual? you can't compare manual to auto, but still, the stock times for the AU (non xr6) were low 16's for the autos. and the stock times for the EF/EL were pretty much the same. throw an exhaust on them and a set of tyres and you'll get well into the 15's. the xr6's are quicker. there are people with au xr6's into the 14's with CAI and exhaust.

hey, not so true i got a rb20de all stock besides spitfire coilpacks wouldnt do anything anyway but from a stop start i always get to 60 b4 most things besides a few time vs v8 ss xr6 turbo and a r33 gtst but most n/a's that try race me like all of them do i normally get a head then i stop cause dont wanna speed happy.gif then they over take me cause obviously im braking so i dont go over speed limit but yeh last night this dick in a 2007 xr6 n/a was revin shit at me for like 2 kms then at set of lights i gave it to it on lights and beat him to 60 not by much but still did .. i dont know why everyone says rb20de is so shit mine isnt bad at all more power then i thought it was going to have... not saying its reall powerful but not as bad as u would think ermm.gif

i could understand beating aussie 6's because of the fact that their diff ratios are so tall, but seriously, go up against other 4 cylinders (or people who can drive) and you'll find out just how slow it is.

and being able to go from 0-60 fast isn't a sign of power, just a sign of short diff ratios and decent traction (something an rb20 doesn't have to worry about since it has bugger all torque). try launching an aussie 6 or 8 by revving it up and side stepping the clutch like you can in a low torque, high revving car and you'll find that it is suddenly hard to see due to all the smoke.

    • Start with a multimeter, and see if you're getting power at the TPS. There should be a manual for your car somewhere on these forums and it'll have the info for what closed TPS signal voltage is, and how it should sweep to full throttle. Same as for other sensors / valves.   Have you checked things like your base timing etc? See if anything looks amiss there too?
    • here are 2x options to consider: https://www.selby.com.au/price-promise/tonewinner-sw-d6000-subwoofer.html https://www.apollohifi.com.au/svs-pb-3000-ported-subwoofer-black-ash-pre-order.html I'm waiting for a good BF/CM sale and will pull the trigger on a new sub, I do like the SVS PB-3000 (13") but you could nearly buy 2x Tonewinner D6000s (15")
    • Think I found another reason to buy the Q50 rather than the skyline import, seems that unless you get the 400r the other models such as the GT miss out on the decent brakes and don't have the flappy paddles on the steering wheel to change gears. Its my day off work today and the Q50 listed @ the dealer in Brisbane that I mentioned in my 1st post looks like it sold as its listed as no longer available... Would have checked it out but can understand why it sold as it was a bargain price.
    • omfg.... That shopping list game. I'd hoped I'd never see it again.
    • There are fixes for this. In industry we use compressed air for everything. It is frequently wet, and many things cannot tolerate it. So there are various forms of driers available that you can install. The simplest option for something like this would be a dessicant drier. Much cheaper to replace some silica gel than actuator cylinders.
