thanks man well yea cant do anything about n/a while im on my p plates but eh turbo in 2 years.

Doesn't have to be though, lemme say a supercharged engine is more fun to drive...though you dont get the big turbo rush feeling as much. A larger displacement n/a engine is also great fun especially if it revs freely/well.

My n/a line has 185rwkw, and for mountain passes and street, it honestly is more than enough. I hardly ever get to stomp on it. If you plan to track attack alot then obviously you'd want more power as long as the rest of the car will balance out with the power.

Anyways have fun and stay safe.

Dude, a 2JZ-GTE being beaten by a 5ltr VN?

That doesn't sound right to me :s

Dude, my Supra never had a 2JZ-GTE in it. It was destined for one when it went to car heaven.

Wrong model.

Everything sounds right to me. Except you.

wow, that's more than my gtt! nice work

a mate of mine has a 4th gen supra putting out almost 160rwkw. reckons he's regularly beating r34 gtt's.

Thanks.. there's still a few things i wanna do then long term, it's gonna get opened for comp raise and cams (if i manage to keep it that long).

Is your mates supra n/a or FI ? Sounds like it'll be n/a.

One of my mates used to have an n/a mk4 supra.. was quite decent - in a straight line, it wiped the floor with my then fto with 116fwkw @ 1150kg. Another mate had a 2jz-ge dropped into a cressida, with bolt ons and tune i think it was around 150 or so... then it met a drunk on the road lol (the drunk was ok in the end).

Ive found that in my na r31, if you stalled it up hard it would jump half to three quarters a carlength on most aussie sixes (vs, vt, vx, ba) etc and would hold that until 90km/h, then they will pull past me. At over 100 against vs, vt commodores, I would slowly start pulling forward. Their tall diff ratio seems to make them suffer at anything over 120.

The falcons actually go quite well, even the single cam ones. R31 against an r33 na, again I would get the jump upto 100km, then it would fly past me unless there was a slight uphill grade in the road then it would fall back slowly. They don't seem to have much torque at all.

I was at autobarn last week and there was a cefiro in the carpark, i asked who owned it and the guy said it only had an rb20de in it and gets beaten by mirages and lancers. So i don't think anything rb20de powered really has much of a chance at all.

that doesn't mean that your car is better though. it just means you are taking it much more seriously than the other person, or you know more about getting a good launch that the other person.

To that bloke who claims to have 185rwkw in his skyline, are you sure your not talking about 185kws from the fly? because thats a ridiculous amount of power for an NA lol.

Plus the other day i was just cruising down the street (yes no one around) and this P plater in a commo s ( the model b4 the VE) starts revving it as we approach the red lights, and i was like laughing and as i was in second gear in low revs about to stop the lights went green and i was like oh f**k because the low end range of the commos would kill me so obviously he pulls like a car length on me but when i hit 5k and then 7k then changed to 3rd and kept my foot down, the face the guy had when i flew past him was absolutely priceless!! and btw i have a NA 33 with a straight through exhaust mods only

stick with the n/a brother, just put a bigger one in.... :merli: you dont want the hassles turbo cars have, and the excuses like oh, it wasnt on boost yet lol.

I didn't really ever want to get involved with this "this is faster than that" type thing... But my friend, who regularly rips me off decided to say my car (R32 4 Door, RB25DE) was a crappy Japanese peice of gay F***en s***. He really doesn't like imports or something, anyway he brought up this discussion which replied with nothing. I hate arguing.

Thing is, he rides dirt bikes... and just about every bike he has ridden/rides is Japanese. I don't see his point :S Typical Commodore lover, when he rips off Fords he looks at me because he knows I don't "support" Holdens... thing is I don't really "support" Fords either. I used to "prefer" them, haha in yr 6 but since I've been into imports I'm not much into Aussie Cars.

He said that his/my friend's mums VN Commo Auto Wagon, would beat my Skyline easily, now it may well be the truth I don't know, however he then went on to say that I would be there "changing gears" and from what I've read, Manuals are usually a quicker change, except from an auto racing box or something who cares. Then he said his Dad's VP Auto could beat my friends mums commodore... so in other words he said his dads car was really fast and my car was a piece of shit.

My car was weighed today: 1340kg. It's a Manual RB25DE R32 with pod and exhaust (soon :merli: hehe) vs a VN Commo Auto Wagon... 1500kg?

Anyway I'm just sick of him ripping of mine/my family's cars too... he continuenly says my Dad's E46 328Ci is a piece of crap etc etc. I think people should get over the "this would beat that" thing.

-Jimmy.

, your friend sounds like an annoying 5th grader! If you want to shut him up, bring out the big guns, an R35 would beat..LOL...

he has a v35 350gt, so they have 206kw at the fly in stock natro form.

All commodores are slow, a Mates VZ SV6 Gets left far far behind when i feel like leaving him iin the dust. Quickest commodore i've ever raced was a VR with full exhaust, extractors, bellmouth removed, pod filter and V8 throttle body and even he got left behind by a fair amount.

VN Commo Auto Wagon weighs 1359kg and has 127kw at the flywheel. I routinely destroy NA Skylines at the traffic light GP in my VP Wagon (exhaust and extractors), its a bit of a laugh that I can beat someone so badly who paid 10 times as much as I did for my car. Then I went up against a GTS-T and got totally owned, looked down at the speedo, looked up again and it was off in the distance 200m up the road.

what do you drive? i know you had posted a dyno result for a NA 300zx, and even they aren't really any faster.

Z32 Slicktop 300ZX, 1420kg making 131rwkw. Faster then your average NA liner, by quite a lot.

    • @soviet_merlin Thanks mate!  Nothing too major but will hold me up for a while. I've got lymphomas to get taken off the back of my neck and the middle of my spine which always conjures scary thoughts!  It sounds worse than it is. Yeah great, conjuring more rabbit hole deepening , just what I need! 🤣
    • I'd argue the F50 kit I got is very good value. For ~2k I got the calipers (refurbed condition), adapters, pads, brake lines, rotors, and top hats. I think you'd be pretty hard to get Evo/GTR/350z brembos + the additional hardware for similar money. Used market for a pair of front calipers alone I've seen tend to run anywhere from $1500-2000 depending on condition.    That said, something like a GTR or 350z brembo is a lot easier to adapt to the Silvia.
    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
