West
Hi all I'm chasing a RADAR DETECTOR, where can i get them? (prefer in Vic somewhere) Also which one is the best to use, one that is not too complicate! Do i get in any trouble if i bring it out of the country as i'm buying one for oversea use only. Thanks West Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/142368-radar-detector/ Share on other sites
Mr. Keets
I own a bell something, paid a decent price as well. It now lives in a draw in my garage waiting fro me to decide wheather to reinstall it. I dont know; i think these things are like weight benches...you get all enthusiastic about the purchase and when you get them you use them for a while then they end up as an expensive dust collector. I found that even on "country" mode i still got a lot of false alarms. I prefer to scan the road side, remember the hot spots, watch the traffic and just be a bit more selective in when i stretch the GT-Rs legs. Still...its you cash Buy one local...not sure about OS radar frequencies. Best check with legallity of owning one and where to place it on your car, each state is different Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/142368-radar-detector/#findComment-2650715 Share on other sites

Starionturbo
Khoa I had a Bell 900i when I lived in Perth. Radar detectors are legal over there and are great to have. Most places in WA stock them and you can buy them legally as well. Over the years ive seen a few of em work and the old stuff is shit and gave a lot of false readings. Id say anything new these days would work perfectly. They cost anywhere from 700 to 1000 dollars. Ohh and Laser - yes radar detectors have ALWAYS picked up laser so I dont know what ur on about. WazR32GTSt
as per PM i sent, mine is sitting gathering dust too.. if anyone happened to PM me who wanted it i would certainly let it go for the right price Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/142368-radar-detector/#findComment-2660110 Share on other sites
MADGT4
From what i had read Radar Dectectors do not pick up Laser. Like saying a device meant to pick up the colour blue and only blue can also pick up the colour red.
