Not a good idea to remove an airbag wheel. It's there for your protection. Besides, removing it is a breach of the ADRs!

I was always very anti ABS till I went to the BMW factory in Munich, Germany. ABS does take longer to stop... in a straight line. But if you are braking hard into a corner or whilst swerving ABS will mean you can keep control more easily and alow you to stop quicker.

It can take a bit of getting use to. You need to to hit the brake pedal hard and then not back off or ABS cuts out and you will lock it up. It can be a bit disconcerting as the brake pedal "pulses" when ABS is working. My Skyline doesn't have ABS but my previous car did.

um... don't take the air bag away

that's just silly....

It's like saying.... "well..... I can't be stuffed putting my seat belt on, so I might as well remove all the seat belts."

The steering wheels aren't exactly ugly, so don't stress out about it... it may even save your life one day. :)

yea i was just woundering hehe i thought it might have been illegal to take off air bag if a car comes with it

also wanted to ask if you take out fuse etc or i have herd if you dont do the right things when taking off the breakes abs dosnt work???

Maybe some people should thin before they stick their foot in their mouth.... :uh-huh:

You'd really be trying hard to find something to defect on my car, I keep it as stock as possible.

I don't have any 'illegal mods'

There's a fine line between an enthusiast and a tosser, and I know which side of the line I want to stay on. :D

As a representative of the R31 Skyline Club, I take it upon myself to make sure that my car isn't defectable.

It's not too low, or too loud, I have no EPA issues, I have stock pedals, wheels, steering wheel, seats, all the things that people like to change, and yet I am still able to enjoy my car safely.

The way I see it, unless you're made of money, there's no point in changing things on the car, only so that you draw attention to yourself and get pulled over and defected.

I would never remove a feature that is there for safety.

just put an aftermarket wheel on it looks better

Do you enjoy your face?

What looks better....

A face that's been hit with a pillow? or a brick wall?

Just like r31 chick, my car is 100% legal. Everytime I perform a modification I check first with Police traffic operations and Dickson Motor Registry (kinda like the RTA in Canberra). I also use the ADRs as a guide.

You have to remember that the laws are there to protect you and others!

You can still have an awesome car that is legal! If you do want to build a crazy "show car" then make it a "trailor bitch" and don't register it or drive it on the road. Simple as that.

i think that its up to a person to make theor own decision whether to take the wheel off or not. I made the decision to take it off because the orginal wheel that was on my car was in poor condition (looked like someone had an aftermarket wheel on it and before and then put it back on).

I replaced it with an aftermarket one and am only about 55% happy, reasons being, ontop of purchase of wheel, you need a boss kit (about $100, and it goes up to $300ish if you get the one with the hicas unit). Also, since i got the non hicas one, not only does does the air bag light remain on (bloody annoying, especially at night) but the hicas light comes on at high speeds.

I would suggest that unless you REALLY hate your wheel, keep it on.
