Hi All & Oil Question

Hi All,

This is my first post. So double hello to everyone.

I feel like a bit of a nob, but... I just got a 96 gtst. I decided to fill the oil up this morning after checking it and it was almost empty.

I poured all 5L of the oil in and there was probably about 1L already in the car.

Is this going to damage the car if i start it and drive it. Should i try to drain some oil out of the sump.

Hi Raver Ace

You should have 4.3 L in total including the oil filter. You should change the oil filter if you havnt already done so. Try using a synthetic blend of a viscosity rating of 40 or 50. I usually change my oil every 6000 km

Yeah...u should have done a full oil change and as Igsta said, filter too. check out the following link....its got all the good oil....about oil!

I jacked up the car and let about 3-4 liters out of the sump. Seems there was more oil in the car at the beginning than i thought.

I will get a full service in the next week or two, after easter, and get the filter changed then.

Do you know if they give the car a full service when it is complianced? I am just wondering if the oil that was in the car was new or if it was what was in it in Japan.

Anyways, the car seemed to run alot smoother after doing this so I am happy at least .
