At least we now know the other reason why you guys don't run semi's now - availability and price.

We needed some RE55's and simply couldn't get ANY when we were up there but the good news is the price we were quoted for them or the Dunlops was well over $100 per tyre more than we pay down here.

Yeah as much as Eastern Creek was..... interesting with all it's blind corners and decent speeds I think 3 of the Vic tracks out of 4 have a lot more potential for disaster than EC does.

For starters the tops speeds we reached at EC were down on the tops speeds we reach at Calder, Sandown and PI. And PI for example has 3 corners (turn 1, 3 and the hayshed) which are taken at over 200km/hr along with the last turn which I change into 5th right on exit - so about 200km/hr - and thats on semi's. (you can now imagine the speeds at PI given the length of the stright and the fact you start the straight at 200km/hr and turn 1 is a 200km/hr turn).

So as Bris said slicks and cages down in Vic is about potential speeds. There have even been CAMS officials at our local track days with talks about some cars having to be fitted with cgaes even running semi's with the times they are now doing.

For those that haven't seen this before check the speeds of some cars coming off at Sandown on street tyres. Imagine the speeds you be carrying through this kink on slicks and then if you got it wrong (for those that saw Gareths Blue R32 - that was this car!

ouch.

I told you Eastern Creek was boring (can be intimidating first time out but once you have the hang of it.....) Wakefield and Oran Park GP are more fun :)

Steve you need to be careful with cages, some events will not let you run with a cage unless it is CAMS approved, ie they think no cage is better than an unapproved cage.
