Sutherland People, Where Do I Find A Carlovers Or Equivalent?

Recommended Posts

I work in the shire, so I thought I'd ask the locals about it for you.

They all said "wash your own car! ewww!"

i want to wash my own car but I'm not allowed to use a hose. Yes Vic - buckets. They suck. I normally use a trigger attachment on the hose but not so sure about doing that here.

John's idea is the best so far. Go down to steve's and use his driveway :) :)

Ive never actually used a hose to wash the car, always used 3 buckets full and another smaller one for soap. Takes awhile but nice n clean :P

Sorry Adam, wasn't clear enough :)

When I asked about a car wash in which you can wash your own car they were disgusted, they told me you pay people to wash your car for you.

I believe some of the comments were, "oh, I think they have those things in Bathurst or Orange or something"

Do you feel like a Hobbit yet?

Ahahaha, if you can afford to live in the shire, you can afford the $20 to pay the guys at that car wash where king georges rd meets princes hwy.

Me, I can't afford to live in the shire, prices there are ridiculous.

go down to the boat ramp of tom ugly's, since its manual now u should be able to hit reverse pretty quick, lol

either that or there's a carlovers on canterbury road not even 10mins away, always packed though

Its not a carlovers branded one.....

Go up King Georges Rd

Get to Canterbury Rd

Turn right at the lights there and head city bound on Canterbury Rd

Go through a set of lights, the look on the RIGHT hand side and just after the rim shop there will be one

further down the road is spoilers car wash. they do a good wash for the $, top coffees, and the chikki that works there on weekends making coffees is hawt.

how much is the basic wash ?

how hot is the chikki ?

there's a hand-wash at a servo on forest rd at bexley, $12 for the basic exterior wash. they do a pretty good job too.

Crystal Carwash (Cafe) on corner of King Georges n Princes.. They wash you car while you sip a latte.

If it's too busy or not your cup of tea, just go 'round the corner to Steve's Rub n Scrub Carwash :D

from memory it was around $15

and shes like.. hot hot.

I got my $17(wagon) car wash ($16 for sedans, $22 for 4WD/SUV/MPVs) for $13.50 the other day. Dunno why I payed less, but I wasn't about to complain...

Sydney Car Wash, 112-126 Broadway, Chippendale or 347 Windsor Rd, Baulkham Hills.

You could always go for a Waterless Car Wash system, like Meguiars have: http://www.meguiars.com.au/water_saver.htm. If the car is REALLY dirty, then do a normal wash (sponge and car-wash fluid) first, then maintain it with the Waterless kit.

and shes like.. hot hot.

Three words:

Car. wash. cruise.

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
