In WA, you can get OZ super streets from wilkinson suspension or from Xspeed

I would doubt you can get a permit for any suspsension mods in WA - I tried to, at welshpool when my car passed the pits (coilovers and just about every adjustable arm you can fit on S13), but the inspector said they dont issue them for suspension, its either legal or not.

The Aus spec super streets retail for around $400 more than the japanese ones

Thanks for replies,

yeah I hate it when they do that...they passed you but don't issue a permit..huum if that is the case I might as well get the Jap version? why do they even produce OZ version then?

XSpeed and WA Suspensions are the WA distributors for Tein OZ Spec.

You may find that the reason you were picked at the pits is the adjustable arms. They dont like them. Some coilovers will pass the pits as long as the spring rate is not to high and they dont deem it too hard, and the bottom mount of the strut is not height adjustable e.g. D2 etc.

As it states in my original post, I DID PASS with all adjustable arms, except the lower control arms - this includes pillow ball tie rod ends front

and the coilvers were D2 (mistake buying them)

The condition of aftermarket parts, and the overall condition of the car, is the main thing - if your car is a dog, they will go over it with a fine tooth comb and pick on everything. If your car is very clean and well maintained, your usually fine - that's what I have found anyway.

afaik, the jap ones have the same spring rates as the aussie ones. Only difference is the claimed revalving by fulcrum to suit aussie roads. Physically, the only difference between them is the product codes. I've had my jap super streets for more than 6 mths now and can't complain at all. The ride is comfortable and firm and a few other members in here can back tht claim as they have the same.

Sorry, misread your post.

I am surprised though. Ive been over with Whiteline Adjustable arms on the rear and they knocked me back. Whiteline arms have the bushes, not rose joints so i thought would be ok, but guess not. Maybe i got an inspector having a bad day.

Sounds like it...

I did some checking, the shocks in the Oz superstreets are different to Jdm ones

They are assembled in aust, but fulcrum (so I have been told), and have all parts necessary to fully rebuild if needed.

the Jdm ones use different internal components, and are assembled in J-land

this is what I was told by a dealer over here in WA that sold the Japanese super streets, not the Australian ones

Re: Teins being assembled here in Oz is correct. Fulcrum do carry all parts needed to make them complete/rebuild/modify. The difference between Jap and Oz spec is mainly in the shock valving. Spring rates are the same (4kg (or 225lbs) front and rear)

4kg front and rear for Skylines?? Thats odd, would have thought it'd be higher considering my jap specs in an S13 are 6/5kg

S13's have a MacPherson strut front end, hence different movement and leverage ratios. So comparing spring rates with a double wishbone car is pointless.

:O Cheers
