Interesting... i did my one 300+ km per hr on GTR32 with few mods on the engine on it. Will like to try more in future :P

Is that using the stock speedo as your reference?

If so, its probably cloer to 250km/h the speedo would be out that far. ;)

R32 GTR....270 stock......Doubt it.

I reckon 240 would be a more realistic.....mines modified (315hp@wheels) and I'd rate its top speed realistically in the region of 240-250kmh.

Wheels mag tested a standard R32 GT-R at Lang Lang back in the early 90's, along with other cars, for the Top Speed Shootout. I recall the Holden engineers (who use the proving ground) said that tyre scrub around the curved track will cause a reduction of about 3-4% in top speeds.

The F40 there on the day could only manage 299km/h (they have been tested to 324km/h in a straight line), the GT-R 245 clicks. Factoring in that the day was very hot (obviously bad for the turbo cars), you would have to assume that the % speed loss for the GT-R and the F40 would be the same, so 245 X 1.08 = 262km/h

But, meh- who really cares.

I really doubt the speedo is more than 10% out probably more like 5%

If u can do the math thats no where near 250km/hr if the speedo is reading 300!

enjoy

Really who cares...Apart from the academics and bench racing aspects. Tuners use the 300kmh deal as a selling point or as "proof" of the potency of their tunes/part/philosophy/t-shirt - Top Secret, Mines. Same for vehicle manufacturers...Mclaren, Ferrari, RUF "its a supercar" Meh. It makes great youtube etc but its serious sh1t and these guys put big bucks into their experiments before trying the 300 "barrier"

My concern would be the effects of a component failure at 180mph+ it all happens pretty quick and you wouldnt have enough time to react..unless your a pro.

I've driven some fast and quick cars and I dont see the attraction of high speeds in an uncontrolled, non competitive environment, I guess i dont get it :D

Bah...I still say the realistic top speed of a stock R32 GTR is 240kmh...to quote anything else involves to much speculation about perfect world scenarios.
