ducki
don't the r34 already have oil pressure in the dash? so why would you need another one? Munkyb0y
30 inch tacho with 60 watt shift light. seriously, an accurate boost gauge. the rest are all sufficient for street use. unless you're going track, then go for all the pressure and temp gauges you can. rev210
Rice-o-meter Are you getting too close to a car with a neon kit that might blind you OR a car with too many/large pointy wings that could have your eye out. Bulldust-o-meter is great for those conversations through the drivers window at the lights or carparks when people are telling you whats under the bonnet. Hotchick-o-meter is also popular for those young lads looking to do bog laps. Mr. Keets
Thats not a bad combination.I'd probably trade boost for oil temperature. Oil temp guage will be a souvenir from TAC "Maybe you guys are forgetting the fact that he said its a GTT... Since the stock dash already has oil pressure ...." Stock guages on a car that is street driven far from equipment limits are fine but...see below wouldnt it be better to change the guages or add more relevant ones if the car has been modified heaps absolutely, a well know Perth tuner reminded me a while a go that the stock guages on my 32R were "slow to react" and as i've got a few bucks sunk into my car I thought it would be wise to get an appropriate level of monitoring on board...rice-o-meter LOL Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/143416-which-is-the-3-most-recommended-guages-to-have-on-a-turbo-car/page/2/#findComment-2680546 Share on other sites
phee
boost guage - you'll be able to tell if your car is over boosting, and be able to slow down if it goes to high. important for modified cars! oil pressure and oil temp - to avoid serious damage to the engine and diagnose any faults before they become a serious threat water temp (cooling) - avoid any head gasket failure or cooking your enging (same as above really) fuel pressure - if you start loosing fuel you can end up setting fire to your car if you don't notice your fuel trail, which is why it is important to have a guage. you can always rely on your sense of smell to help you out, but sometimes the heat of the moment gets too much (excuse the pun) and 'dirty imports' have a fuel smell to them anyway I know there are 6 there but it depends on how 'safe' you want to be. are you planning to mount them on the pillar or below the stereo? if both, mount the top 3 on the pillar, and the remaining more descreatly under the stereo. you could just get a motec dash though... Andyn
Interesting thread. Im not in it for the rice factor. More knowing the status of the car and give warning signs when things may be going wrong. How hard are these gauges (oil pres/temp, water, fuel pres) to install yourself, and is there much room for error (ie installing it reading the wrong figures)?
