eMsta
well, whatever that happened - the problem was found. Hopefully BBE can get that problem rectified. wonkynutz
Last I heard the real problem hadn't been found as he was still trying to blame the turbo. The teflon in the oil galleries sounds like it'd be worth checking out. That stuff is seriously dodgy and if bbe knows so much about motors why is he even using it? As for smoking Ceffys, how do you roll them and aren't they a bastard to light? Just shoot it up! As for friday night, smoking Ceffys... Hmm... Maybe smoking a bit too much weed, as, if I remember correctly, friday night, the car had no turbo... Kozeyekan
Circular logic: A healthy, finely tuned engine can run 9500 RPM. My car can run 9500 RPM, threfore it is highly tuned and healthy! It's like saying Dogs eat steak and run around a lot I run around a lot and eat steak, therefore I am a dog! AlexCim
Just a question to Slide, Why would someone swap from a GCG highflow to one of your turbos? Isnt it a downgrade going from BB to TB? To the guy from the thread. I remember when I installed my GCG, there were very strict instructions to do the following - Check the oil/water lines when off the car (I used a pipe cleaner to clean it, then blew through them to be certain they were clean) - Once turbo is on, before connecting the oil drain, crank the engine over until oil comes out the bottom, did that! - Upon first installation, let the car idle for 10 minutes WITHOUT revving it to let the seals settle, did that! - During the last 5 minutes of that 10 minutes, I ran it under some idle load (A/C on, lights on, music on etc) - Checked for oil leaks, none! THEN, ONLY THEN did I take the car out for a drive. You know what, Id never swapped a turbo before that, and guess what, my GCG have no problems what so ever. Be smart, dont be arrogant. Cubes
Why would someone swap from a GCG highflow to one of your turbos? Isnt it a downgrade going from BB to TB? He was mistaken... I made recommended MTQ (Dynamic Turbochargers) for a SA based turbo company to another member as I know of one car that has been running around with a bush rb20t highflow for some years now and has had no problems. bbe jumped in to the thread saying they were shit, he installed one and it stuffed up straight away. In bbe's other thread he claimed it was a gcg highflow that he had, I made mention of that and he later said he made a mistake and it was MTQ.. If one had such a problem with a turbo and it wasn't covered under warranty I sure as hell know I wouldn't easily mistake them for another company that sound nothing like them. Especially GCG that isn't even in Adelaide. But thats just me, just fishy thats all. He's not very clear communicating his thoughts, just rambles. I saw an interesting bumper sticker today. Col-GTSX
Ummmmm Not this topic again... It seems he does not want to admit responcability. He said in his first thread that he had modified his oil line. Then in this thread he says that he only found out about the oil line modifications after fitting and destroying the turbo... So which story is it... I suggest you didnt modify the oil feed correctlly or even at all... You may have modified it tho before returning it to slide... As i have stated before Im not sticking up for a forum trader as i dont really know Arron well at all. I have never purchased from him. I probablly would tho if he had something i needed as he is local to me and has a very high trader rating. I think most would aggree that I am seen as an on-bias moderator by most of the forum. I still think that Arron is right and you my friend are wrong. But thanks for sharing with the forum it made for an interesting read and i learnt something new. Without wanting to spark up a Ball Bearing vs Journal Bearing debate again both turbo's perform exceptionally well and are both are great upgrades. The cheaper option is journal bearing and for the same results is a great option for uprade over its ball bearing equivalent. I am probably one of very few manufacturers of turbochargers that prefers the Journal highflows over Ball Bearing. I cannot justify spending the money on a turbo to make 250-260rwkw at a cost of over the price of brand new Garrett Turbochargers such as the GT3040R etc They are now available internally gated and are a great option for uprade for now and future performance expectations. With such a small frame turbocharger the difference between ball bearing and journal is not something that is noticable to the point where it matters. SilverECR33
Those pix that were posted slide. were pretty blurry.. BBE ur better off taking it up in person, not on this forum. as u get better results from people that way. i am shocked at the moronic posts in this thread. the incident could be either of their faults, better to get it all checked out by a third party. with no affiliation to either party. flame on. They are not blurry enough to hide the fact that its extreme heat damage, which is only caused by lack of oil supply. Nothing else So blurry or not, the failure reason is undisputable, along with the fact this isnt the first turbo BBE has killed... its pointing directly towards a motor/oil issue, not a turbo issue Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/143586-brand-new-turbo-dead-forum-sponsor/page/8/#findComment-2634874 Share on other sites
