_MRR33
Hey! Well, I guess you read it all the time on here about people getting defected I know I've read a few topics. Anyhow, I got defected last night here's the story.. I had a cop car follow me for about 1-2KM last night as I was heading to a friends house, they pulled me up and done the usuall things (RBT, Licence check etc), however my car was un-registerd I didn't even know because I never got a letter in the mail we had just moved houses so the letter must of gone to the old house. It was un-registerd by about 5 days. I know, it's my fault there I didn't even know I thought it was the end of the month cause it had "11" on it, for the 11th month. Anyways, they've defected me for a few minior things, he got me for: - Only one number plate light working. Okay, I understand this one. - One high bulb not working. Okay, I understand this one. - Number plate too much on a slope Didn't know that, been pulled up before and never had a problem. - Font indicators too close together. Didn't know that, been pulled up before and never had a problem - What the hell is the go here? The police officer was being a real asshole towards me however, he was trying to get me for my headlights for being aftermarket, even though they are stock he tried to get me for braided hose lines and quite a few other things. Here's a photo of my car, can anyone answer a couple of questions for me? Whats the go with the number plate, where can I put it? ;and The front indicators what the? I have rear indicators, front side indicators and indicators on the front of the bodykit. Also, if anyone has a website with the law about these things, that'd be great thank-you! wonkynutz
Well I haven't got the regs but just commonsense would tell me those indicators aren't kosher. They'd be almost impossible to spot in real world traffic. Suggest you do a search on qldgov sites. You should be able to find the rules pretty easily. _MRR33
Thats what I may have to do. I've just registerd the car online, so by law I can drive the car now correct? Just have to get the defects fixed by the 8th of Dec as written on the defect notice. Am I right? wonkynutz
Kosher is a Jewish word meaning something like wholesome or good. Usually pronounced ko-sher(like go-pher). Thought everyone knew it. Gets used colloquially all the time. Oh yeah,I'd say you're ok if it's rego'ed now but ring them on Monday if you're not sure. ctjet
the number plate has to be in an upright (or very close to) position so that speed cameras can book you the rest you had coming... the indicators one is a bit of a curve ball. Re mounting them further apart is a DIY operation anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/143743-defected/#findComment-2682579 Share on other sites

Well i better go and replace mine then, as i have one out and its been out for over a year... Opps... Thanks for the headsup... I always thought they would give you a warning if a bulb was out cause i mean how are you too know if a bulb is blown??? SMR33
how are you too know if a bulb is blown??? Ummm, its called regularly checking the lights ie turn lights on (including indicators) and doing a walk around your vehicle. Brake lights can be checked in a glass shop front when reverse parking or get a second person to check them while you press the brake pedal. Col-GTSX
doing a walk around your vehicle. Pfttt that sounds like it takes effort... Ive seen many cars with no brake lights at all, they seem to stop suddenlly and you always almost hit them due to their lights all being out... I call that dangerous, but one light... Common, thats just nit-picking... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/143743-defected/#findComment-2691004 Share on other sites
SMR33
Pfttt that sounds like it takes effort... You're always telling me you need the exercise... Common, thats just nit-picking... Yes agreed with the no brake lights on a lot of cars. I look though their windscreen to see what the car in front of them is doing, or a lane switch (if possible) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/143743-defected/#findComment-2691240 Share on other sites

R33S2
I've been pulled over (not in the line) for a faulty brake bulb and given a warning, they were probably pissed at him for no rego, they tend to take a dim view of ppl who drive unregoed. Benno31
It all depends on the copper and how good or bad a day he has been having etc. I got pulled over once in a Holden and the tyres on it were close to being worn out, they still had about half a mm of tread depth until they hit the tread wear indicator. But seeing as they were Japanese Bridgestone's the tread wear indicator is only about 1.5 or 2 mm from the lowest point of the tyre and for most aussie tyres that wouldn't be deep enough. So they did me for bald tyres even though they were not down to the wear indicators. Another separate incident I received a 3 point and $180 fine for a blown parker bulb. When I contacted the police after the event I was informed that it is at the officer's discretion as to whether he deems the vehicle to not be in a good and serviceable condition. So because he was in a bad mood I got a more severe fine. Normally it would have only been 1 point and a $60 fine. ob1
howd you register a car with outstanding defects? lol i wish we could do that in syd depends where you go for your blue/pink slip. I had no dramas getting both slips for my 'technically' illegal (in many ways) GTIR when i lived down there.
