Hey Guys,

I'm Cas, and im new to SAU, my first Skyline (Black R33 S2) is on its way over from Queensland now... and i won't be able to wait much longer!! :P

I'm gonna have to take it through Regency, i know what mods it currently has on it... could anyone, tell me what i will get through with and what i would have to change/rip out? Thanks.

It is a 40th Anniversary, which has:

- Tein 16 level adjustable coilovers.

- Hks silent, hi-power exhaust system.

- Hid 8000k headlight system.

- Blitz turbo timer.

- Trust Airinz air filter.

- Cusco strut bar.

- Nismo indicators.

Can't wait to take it for a drive and start on the cosmetics!

Thanks again! Appreciate it,

Cas.

Welcome Cas!

Has this car got rego in QLD? If so you won't have to take it over Regency, you will be able to go next door to the Surt Cop Shop, and they can go over the relevant numbers for you to get it rego'd here and in your name! They are a bit better than taking your chance thru Regency!

Going thru what you have listed, you might be able to get thru as is, BUT i would wind up the coilovers a bit so it's not too low!

Try having a read of some of these pages, they will help you out!

Note that it says something about if your within 40km from the city you need to go to Regency, BUT that is crap, you won't have to! Maybe ring up Darlington Cop Shop, and ask when thier office is open next door to them!

http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/registratio...egistration.asp

Once inspected, they will give you some forms which you need to take to the Transport SA office and you can then pay for the registration!

Welcome Cas, yeah as stated above.... I bought my GTR from brisbane in february and took it thru sturt inspection depot no hassles. If you have current rego and the car is not BLATANTLY defectable then you have no dramas!!

Welcome Cas and good luck with the car, make sure that nothing is visible tho or they will have a shot at you. Like the turbo timer, anything they can spot easily will stop you from getting thru. Good luck and look forward to seeing you at a cruise or photoshoot.

Welcome sounds like an awesome car.

I nearly got a 40th aniversary 33 and kinda wish i did.

I really like the shape of them and the badging.

Be sure to post some pics up when you get it and remember to come to all our events as we are all a great bunch of like minded people.

Hey Cas

welcome,

as said above if the car has been registered in another state you only need an identity check not a full regency check, what area do you live in? there is a station next to sturt police that do the inspection on wednesday and thrusday these guys are usually more relaxed about the cars that go through ( at least they used to be 12 months ago when i used to have to go down there) They do check tint.

good luck with it all and enjoy

you shouldn't need to take out the turbo timer just don't have it on

as long as the car has been previously registered they will check the VIN, ENG no and build dates and compare them against the database to make sure that the car isn't stolen

All they did when i got my car from queensland where it was complied was to check the VIN and engine no.

Then they signed a form and i went to the registration office in goolwa, paid a few grand in stamp duty :< and went on my merry way.

Hi and Welcome Cas

Damm it there i was thinking that i was the only one in SA with the 40th Anniversary Black R33 but i love it so much its almost like a child and just as expensive as one hehehe :D

Anyways watch out for Regency i just had to swap over my plates to SA and what a bitch it was, the worse part it was for a stock Hyundai Lantra they picked on my window tint and my E2 Stamped Momo :D

For sure it would be best to take it to a cop shop and less expensive the Regency park.

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
