Well, I need new front rotors for my skyline - R33 GT-R vspec, what are the best rotors (or best compromise between rotors and price). Will hopefully be seeing more track time soon. I was looking at the DBA rotors but after reading a thread on them here have gone off them a bit. Also what pads should I be looking at getting?

Thankyou

Best rotors and pads I've used? Project Mu. But you'll pay for them.

I am quite fond of Ferodo DS2500 pads. They work well enough when cold, but will handle some heavy abuse.

Not sure about a bang-for-buck rotor, though. I've used DBA slotted and cracked them, and I know guys who've cracked 4000s and 5000s. They are the biggest name in Australia for rotors, though.

I agree with scathing. Project mu all the way but at $1100 or so retail for a set of 2 piece front rotors it's worth checking your options.

I'm fairly certain DBA do a 2 piece rotor to suit the brembos though. It may be a cheaper option.

I've had DBA5000 with my Brembos and they worked well on the road, but warped under the hi temp stresses of competition with quick hot-cold cycles.

Get a price on some two piece Alcons or Harrops if you want something really good, but DBA5000 would be fine for most work including having a crack every now and then.

--Thanks for the info all, looks like I won't be buying something 'really good' just yet!. Now looking for a set of cheaper standard or aftermarket rotors to get me through for a while if anyone has anything available.

Thanks again.

I have the G4 brakes and they work ok on the street, still waiting for the next track day to give them a real work out.

I used the RDA rotors before and they were fine for some time but lasted about 8 track days before cracking , but i think the level 900 project Mu pads were a bit on the hi temp side with these discs

I have the 356mm rotors. Had the old girl out for a spirited run last night as i have about 200kms on the new brakes now and i have to say they do work well under a spirited road drive which is still some way off a track day session but they do pull you up. And they still have lots of feed back through the brake pedal so all in all i am really happy with them so far. May have a track session on friday night under lights so i will give you some feed back then.
