it is currently 1140pm on monday at the end of the long weekened easter

just seeing that overall 23 people were killed in road crashes this weekend (5 in NSW)

my prediction is that there will be a news thing tommorow say that there were only 5 people killed in NSW over the long weekend

then they will go on to say how their double demerit points and overemforcement has had a positive contribution to this fact (being on average lower than previouse years )

they will justify this by saying that there were"alot less speeding fines and outher traffic infringment notices issued"

what they will foret to mention is the fatct that 60% of the long weekend was encomapased by heavy rain thus makeing radar detection pretty much useless(thus the low nuber of infringments, radar doenst work in the rain), also the fact that police dont like to go out and use radar in the rain "cause they get wet"

drink drivinig will be on the lower side of the average because police once again dont like to get wet.

and finally the gold prediction which has been going one for years

the majoryity of fatal crashes occured on one lane two way rural roads................................ thus justifying the ever increasing instilation of speed cameras in the city (where *** all fatalities occur durring the long weekend)

blind as a prick so sorry about the spelling.

lol

and jo public will go on beliving this shit and putting up with it

Unfortunately this is true.

I watch in amazement as a HWY cop in an SS commodore pulled over a blue haired grandma in an early 90's 4 cyl. Camry (red. w/ venetian blinds) and write her a ticket for doing something very minor in a 50 school zone... maybe doing 60 or so... I was behind her.

This was on a school holiday in a double demerit point day. No kids. What is the point of this?

Obviously a habitual speeder...

License should consist of a defensive driving course. Changing lanes, hill starts, not clipping round-abouts and reverse parking teaches you jack when driving at higher speeds (ie. 110 compared to 60km/h). Most people stomp the brake pedal as though it's their worst enemies head.

I've been saying that education is the key since I have had my licence. But a bit of courtesy would go a long way also to reducing speeding, crazy manoeuvres, and essentially accidents.

A basic race driving course would also help, but it would need to be accompanied by the part that says this is the best way to drive... but push the limit and your gonna stuff up... even Michael Schumacher can stuff up on a road because of unpredictability.

I don't know if you guys are getting this one in the city, but theres a campaign going at the moment that goes something like:

80% of all accidents occur on bends.

I'll bet the genius that thought that up lives in the middle of the nullabour, 80% of the states roads would be a bend in one form or another:bs!:

I'm with you guys on the education front. Everyone needs to know the limit of their vehicle even if they never have to fully use it.

i was in a carpark for about five minutes and nearly saw about 10 accidents.

LOL.

People basically have NFI on any road skills... hwy, parking lot, you name it.

They can't get around getting their Starlet into a spot... I watched this idiot take 5 mins, give up and leave... in a Starlet!

SOmeone my company VX COmmodore wagon went in fine.

I'd say that ticket could be contested. School Zones specify "school days", not "weekdays". So if that day was a school holiday for the school it surrounds, I reckon she could get the ticket anulled.

Hey EDS33T , i saw one of those signs two weeks ago on the way out to my brothers in Mudgee.

Funny thing was the next morning at about 4.30 am when returning to Sydney almost lost control of the car when i swerved to miss a Roo, put the outside tyres onto the dirt. Imagine if the Roos parked their assses on bends,:)

Roy,

Roos are a problem in rural areas, I noticed two more fresh kills on the way to work this morning that happened in the last 24hrs..

The RTA recommends that you never swerve to miss an animal but if that were case I could rack up another three "at fault" claims to my driving history. Obviously if there were oncoming traffic you'd take out whatever wildlife was in front of you.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
