Should There Be A Gasket Between The Turbo And The Elbow?

Cos I don't have one and I noticed a bit of oil in there.

Also, I seem to have a bit of oil in my intake just after the turbo particularly. Is this ok?

I know that the R32 does have a gasket there, but I have been running an RB25 turbo without the gasket and havn't had any problems

my r33 had the gasket.

14465-0P610- thats the part number for a r33 gasket, dunno if its the same as the r34 one though

clean the oil away and then drive around and check it in a few days.

when you check it again, see how much there is. if there is a considerable amount it could indicate turbo oil seal is shagged. wipe away and see how long before it comes back

You might want to buy a catch can. Try that and see how you go!

Hmm, I would have thought that the only way for oil to get up into his intake would be to do with a seal letting it out of your turbo. Blow by is a completely different story?

Well I cleaned it and drove about 80k's and it came back.

I already have a catch can so it's not blow by.

I wonder if this is causing my occasional high knock levels.

Oil will affect the octane levels in the fuel etc, so its possible.

Sounds like a leaky turbo seal now, if you have a can already

I used a light smear of silicon as I didn't get a gasket with my elbow.

Between the Elbow and the Turbo there is a gasket Adam... it's a metal gasket taht resembles a rotor symbol
