They really should have a deal with SAU, as there is quite a number of people thru them on here, they should have a discount

They do have a discount, if you are with SAU NSW or Vic and hold a CAMS license they wil give you a discount

Also do you guys know they have 'laid up' cover? My car is currently in the garage in pieces and it's only costing me $30 a month or thereabouts to insure it. I'm covered for theft, vandalism etc but it's just not covered if I drive it. Saving cash without having to cancel my policy is pretty good.

Sweet I need to get onto this, my car is always off the bloody road....sounds great :)

Deluxe: give Matt your contact number and details eg rego/address etc and ask him to have a look at your policy. Definately worth the time.

Matt is 'da man' :P

Cheers Kaz, might just do that! Although i might worry about it when it comes up again for renewal, BUT definatly Shannons are the go!

Im rating 1, 24 years old... never had an accident/made any claims.. also ride a 650cc motorbike rating 1

rang shannons.. wont insure me for a stock R33 Gtst as im "too risky"

Said to call back after ive have some experience with it..

needless to say shannons can lick the sweat off my balls.. wont ever insure with them

im trying to get a quote from shannons but dont want to just ring up and get a dud sales person. ive pmed boosted 3 times but he isnt replying. hes been online after my pm all 3 times i checked when he was last active. maybe hes sick of replying about insurance or something. good luck getting onto him.

I spoke to Matt (800sted) for my insurance, he is great! Give him a call he will sort it for you.

Shannons are fantastic, best insurer for modified vehicles.

Same as. Matt has been superb and we took our other car to Shannons as well largely due to the service he has provided. I also pay the most competitive price I could get for the Evo and have piece of mind that it's with a decent insurer.

why does he reply to everyone but me? :P i just rang shannons and the guy said ring back when your 25! im 24 with a rating 1 and they said they couldnt compare to just cars $1082,that it would be 3 times that because of my age.

_8005TED_ where are you? :)

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
