i have a 92 gtst type m

i am looking at buying a just jap cooler kit

now my questions:

1. Cutting. how much cutting will be required to fit the kit? what do i need to cut?

2. what is the difference between the cooling pro type 1 and type 2 kits? as far as i can see its the pipping. dimensions and cooler design are similar.

3. i have factory fitted spotties, can i keep these?

lastly, does anyone have picture of a just jap cooler on their car?

Hi, i have the same front bar as you, my car was originally a type M with the little lip hanging down but that has been removed and i think the lip it has now got is a mounting bracket for the original one. Anyway this caused alot of hassle and i had to cut all the way to the front of my kit to get around it and fit the cooler in, with the piping ending just at the front of the little mountings for the spotties.

I doubt you will get away with keeping the spotties without removing the bracket.

Also you will need to cut a hole below you're battery (get a hole saw, or just use a drill like i did) and possibly get some 25 degree angle 3" piping, as mine didn't seem to all match up (stupid type M lip mounting bracket)

Hope that helped, i gotta get mine resprayed coz the paint got shagged after the cooler install

just finished installing it. for those looking to buy a just jap kit, believ me they are NOT a direct fit.

things i had to cut:

-hole under the batery for the intake end of the cooler piping

-widen hole for the turbo side of the cooler piping

-reinoforcement bar

-front bar

-no i didnt keep my foggies

problems i encountered with the kit:

- (turbo side), the pipe from the kit was to short so i had to lengthen the pipe coming off the turbo so it the cooler pipe can reach. (this is why i had to widen the hole on the passenger side.

mounting: the kit came with mounting brackets, for the top and bottom, i mounted the cooler to the reo-bar, so i didnt use the brackets that came with the kit. the bottom mounts would not reach the body of the car at all. yes i do have the cooler mounted as close to the car as possible. as for the lower mounts i used these in unison with the top mounting brackets to gain extra length. i mounted them where the bolts are for the plastic gaurds. cooler does not move at all!SOLID!

piping: the piping is not perfect and it does not fit on straight on at every join.

piping getting hot: due to the inake cooler piping being directly above the piping for the turbo, the pipes get pretty damn hot. i rectified this problem by heat wrapping the pipes.

i opted for a Delta fin style of cooler. it sits so well behind the front bar... pics later....
